Day 2

Cape Town

Day notes

Hold onto your hats thrillseekers - after fueling up on a hearty breakfast, we'll burn rubber as we careen around the staggering Cape Peninsula coastline. Wind through posh Camps Bay with its beach babes and billionaires, then hold your breath as you gaze down the cliffside drop from the soaring Twelve Apostles. Stop to snap some pics before this adventure gets even more extreme!

Put the pedal to the metal as we motor through the winding roads to the wildly beautiful Hout Bay valley, riding the rolling hills through the marine layer on legendary Chapman's Peak Drive. Tiny harbour towns dot the oceanside panorama as we conquer one relentless hairpin turn after another.

Then - cue the drumroll - we've made it to the continent's thrilling southwestern edge! Feel your heart race as you step out to inhale the crisp ocean air. Meander to the pastel-painted lighthouse remains for Kodak moments and scenic vistas for the 'gram before our engines roar yet again onto Boulders Beach.

This is the stuff bucket lists are made of folks! Waddle alongside the waddling penguins on the powder-soft sands at this world-famous bird sanctuary. No rush, lap up the epic sights - you'll wanna imprint this mind-blowing experience in your memory bank forever!

Once you’ve had your fill of Penguin selfies, we’ll stop for a scrumptious seafood lunch at a trendy café in charming Simon's Town to refuel for our last big thrill. Beach bums will dig the laid-back coastal vibes before we hit the road back to the bright lights and big city. Go seek and find Just Nuisance, the only Naval Sea Dog to serve in the South African Navy.

As the blood-orange sun melts into the Indian Ocean at dusk, toast to the end of an epic day of living life on the edge! From hip hotels to local dives, Cape Town tempts with a tapestry of restaurants to choosing your evening adventure. Wherever you wind up, breathe deep and soak up the sights on this day you won’t soon forget!

Day 3

Cape Town

Day notes

After all that full-throttle adventure, today is a chance to chill out and restore. No alarms, no tour buses, no FOMO - just soak up the zen vibes.

Start the day slowly coming back to your body after all that excitement. Stretch out the kinks as golden light streams onto your pillow. Brew a cup of soothing chamomile tea and breathe deep before stepping out onto your balcony. The fresh ocean breeze whispers relaxation as you watch the sunlight dance across the water.

Make your way poolside and nestle into a comfy lounge chair, feeling the warmth of the sun kiss your skin. Tune into the perfect playlist, then let your mind drift freely, without an agenda or itinerary. Ah, bliss.

Work up an appetite by taking long, leisurely laps in the pool, then indulge in a laid-back lunch on the patio. Laughter and clinking glasses fill the air as you befriend fellow travellers between delicious bites.

After, wander down to the spa for some pampering. Melt into the massage table as skilful hands unlock stored tension. Or lounge in the eucalyptus steam, cleansing mind and body. Take these moments to simply be.

As the glowing sun dips lower, stroll the streets and beaches aimlessly, stopping to sip wine at a seaside café or chat with local artisans. Capture the cotton candy skies at sunset before heading back for a candlelit hotel dinner.

Belly full and spirit soothed, you tuck yourself into crisp sheets. Tomorrow another adventure awaits, but for now, rest in the quiet contentment of the present moment. This downtime is the gift you give yourself. Cherish it fully before your next thrill-seeking experience.

After two days of revelling in the magnificent coastal landscapes, we bid the turquoise waters farewell and turned inland towards the rugged beauty of the Karoo. Day 8

Oudtshoorn

Day notes

History buffs and culture vultures listen up - today we're time travelling on an epic journey through the scenic richness of the Klein Karoo! This winding road trip takes us back through the storybook landscapes and tiny villages that capture the pioneering spirit of this frontier region.

We begin our journey back in time in Meiringspoort Gorge, where towering sandstone cliffs flank our vehicle as we learn about the arduous journey of early travellers and Herrie the Elephant. This winding 25km gorge is an engineering marvel and Mother Nature's artistry is on full display.

We'll stop at an emerald green waterfall fed from the Swartberg mountains to snap some pics and appreciate the deafening stillness before crossing through into the dusty frontier town of Klaarstroom. Population: 12! Enjoy a classic South African milk tart and coffee at centenarian hotelier Jeromy's guesthouse as this magistrate-turned-innkeeper regales us with tales of regional history.

Back on the open road, we'll trace our way through century-old sheep and cattle farmlands dotted with quiver trees and windmills. The vistas go on forever! Our wheels roll up next to the iconic white-washed Swartberg Hotel est.1860 just in time for a light poolside lunch. Be sure to dip your toes in!

After, a local storyteller spins a lively narrative about the life of bygone "vastrap" sheepherders during an interactive show. You’ll gain respect for the grit of these pioneers! Then we’re off to conquer the Swartberg Pass - regarded as the world’s most scenic drive and best tackled on foot. Follow our guide up the winding dirt trail, inhaling lungfuls of crisp mountain air for about 30 minutes before being rewarded with a mountaintop panorama that will leave you speechless.

We close out this history-packed day with a traditional braai dinner at Kobus se Gat farm nestled in the shadow of the Swartberg peaks. As the sun dips behind the mountains, raise a glass to the spirited people who carved out an existence in this harsh yet beautiful land not so long ago. Their persevering culture lives on through memorable storytelling. Here's to making history of our own!

Day 14

End of Itinerary

Day notes

Is it that time already, my kindred spirits? As sunrise illuminates our final magical morning on safari, my heart feels as heavy as the bulging memory cards in our cameras. We've forged unforgettable connections these two weeks - with the land, locals, and certainly with our merry band of adventure comrades. From crossing swaying suspension bridges, to face-to-face giraffe greetings, sundowners with new BFFs, and ticking off every last Big 5 sighting...we confidently conquered this epic South African sojourn together!

As the jeep rumbles back from our final fruitful game drive, we console ourselves with lingering glances at grazing impalas and one last leopard stretch in the golden morning light. The aroma of freshly baked muffins and sizzling bacon provide comfort as our travel tribe gathers under the sprawling acacia tree to rehash favorite moments. Laughter soon drowns melancholy until it's time for reluctant farewell hugs promising digital friendship.

The candyfloss clouds seem to wave goodbye overhead as our capable pilot guides us safely over the bushveld back to city life. However, I believe a piece of our hearts nestled between those thorn trees and saltwater taffies skies will beckon eager returns to this magnetic country. But for now, may your suitcase overflow with dusty treasures and souls overflowing with supreme satisfaction at a safari done unforgettably right! Kea leboha, my friends! Until we meet again!
