Day 3: Cradle Mountain

Today leave Barnbougle for your journey to UNESCO World Heritage listed Cradle Mountain National Park. Along the way you may wish to visit Mole Creek Karst National Park, for a tour of Marakoopa Cave. Explore this miraculous underground world with its glow worms, large caverns, rim pools and underground streams, before heading to your accommodation at Cradle Mountain National Park.

This afternoon enjoy a private Tassie Devils @ Cradle tour.

Day 4: Cradle Mountain

Today, you will have ample time to explore Cradle Mountain National Park. Unwind to the harmonic sounds found only in this true wilderness. Visit Dove Lake, a stunning glacial lake located in a spectacular setting beneath the craggy peaks of Cradle Mountain. The evening offers you the opportunity to view an abundance of native animals in their natural habitat.

Day 5: Tasmania West Coast

This morning continue to Corinna, a restored historic settlement set on the Pieman River on the southern boundary of the Tarkine, with access by gravel road and vehicle barge only. On the way you may like to go for a bushwalk in the forest before settling into your accommodation for the evening.

Day 6: Tasmania West Coast

Today, experience the highly regarded Pieman River Cruise, with excellent commentary, stunning reflections, freedom from other vessels and a truly personal experience with the river and rainforest. The cruise passes close to the wreck of the SS Croydon at the mouth of the Savage River and to Lover’s Falls near the mouth of the Donaldson. This is an uplifting and authentic experience, rich in history, nature and personal anecdotes.

9.45 am for 10.00 am departure - Cruise on the Pieman River, including lunch. The cruise departs from Corinna Dock, a short walk from Corinna Village. Tour concludes around 2.30 pm.

Day 7: Liawenee

This morning leave Corinna and venture into Tasmania’s Central Highlands, also known as “The Heart of Tasmania”. In this rugged alpine wilderness take in the barren but beautiful and unique landscape where the air is noticeably clear and the silence inspiring. On dusk you will have the chance to observe Wombats, Quolls, Tasmanian Devils, Wallabies and Possums as they turn the highland plateau into a hub of activity. Drive time is around 4.5 hours.

Day 8: Liawenee

Today you have ample time to discover the Central Plateau World Heritage area. Unleash your adventurous spirit and explore on your off-road e-bike; the perfect way to roll over any terrain in the wilderness. With no engine noise, it will be just you and nature as you explore the many roads and tracks of the area. You may wish to discuss fly fishing options with the reception, hire some fishing gear and get to places you couldn’t by car or foot alone.

Day 9: Hobart

Today depart Thousand Lakes Lodge and travel to Hobart via Mount Field National Park, the oldest National Park in the state.

Explore the green forest canopy of the National Park with a rainforest walk to Russell Falls, Horseshoe Falls and Tall Trees. Here you will find beautiful walks, stunning views, abundant wildlife, spectacular waterfalls and some of the tallest trees in the world. Few other national parks in Australia offer such diversity in vegetation. Mount Field has been popular with nature lovers for over 100 years.

On arrival to Hobart you make your way to your accommodation.

Day 10: End of Itinerary

Return your hire car to Hobart Airport and connect with your homebound flight.
