On arrival at Jeki Airstrip you will be met for transfer to Kayila Camp for the next two nights.
Located on the vast 8700 acre Kayila Private Game reserve the camp has 4 suites situated on a ridge on the banks of the Zambezi with sweeping views of the Mana Pools National Park on the opposite bank. The camp has a beautiful outdoor lounge area that overlooks the fire-pit deck and swimming pool, providing an excellent vantage point to experience the magic of the Zambezi River.
At Kayila, the ‘Big Four’ are frequent and treasured guests.offering an unparalleled wildlife experience through game drives in the reserve. A variety of activities include Day and Night Game Drives, Boating, Fishing, Walking Safaris. The camp location provides a unique insight into the Chiawa/ Mugulameno cultures at the adjoining village communities.
Following a morning activity, travel by boat or, for the more adventurous by canoe, 70 km dow the Zambezi River stopping enroute to enjoy a scrumptious picnic lunch served on a remote bank along the shore to see flora and fauna that inhabit the length of the river. Continue on to Anabezi camp.
Anabezi Camp:
Located on the banks of the Zambezi River in Zambia, you’ll find the exquisite Anabezi Camp. Its name, derived from the Ana Trees, or Winter Thorns, that surround it, is more than a luxurious camp, but home to all kinds of wildlife. Attracted by the pods that fall from the trees, you’ll be mere feet away from elephants as they spend lazy days by the riverbanks.
The 12 large, luxurious tents are positioned on raised wooden decks and make for a truly comfortable and mesmerizing experience. Each tent is comprised of an indoor and outdoor bathroom, a spacious sitting area, teak beds within a well-designed, four-poster mosquito net, gauze sliding doors that open onto a private deck, a plunge pool set into the deck, 24 hour power and plenty of filtered hot and cold water.
Meals in camp are a special treat. A fusion of European and African cuisines, you’ll enjoy some of the finest food passionately designed by the head chef. From a continental breakfast, to a buffet lunch and high tea full of tasty delights, you’ll end the day with a three-course plated dinner and some of South Africa’s finest wines.
During your stay, you’ll have a large range of activities to choose from. For the avid bird watcher, all you’ll need to discover some of the rarest birds around is a pair of binoculars. With over 500 bird species, including the majestic Ground Hornbill, African Skimmers, Roufous Bellied Herons, Bee Eaters, Block Crowned Night Herons and Amethyst Sunbirds, your guide will show you what to look for.
The camps’ 4x4 vehicles make it easy for you to follow the animals as they spend their days roaming around the Lower Zambezi National Park plains, and relaxing in the sun. From lazy lions, to buffalos, rhinos, and herds of elephant, let your experienced guides teach you about their natural habitat. Morning walking safaris are also available or you can explore the Lower Zambezi National Park when the sun goes down. Spot the big cats as they wonder around at night, hunting their prey. From the sounds of Africa at dusk, to the beautiful starry sky, it is a drive to remember.
Explore the main bank, islands and channels in the lower Zambezi River on a custom-built boat. From fish eagles, to crocs, hippos and buffalos, make the most of the Lower Zambezi National Park with a cocktail in one hand, and a delicious assortment of snacks in the other. For the more adventurous, canoe trips are available. For keen fishermen, late August to mid-November is the best time to fish on the Zambezi River. With custom built 18’ pontoon boats, and river guides with an intimate knowledge of the river they’ve grown up in, both beginners and experts will be taken to the best spots for a mesmerizing experience.
