Day 1: Johannesburg

On arrival at Johannesburg ORTambo International Airport proceed thru customs/immigration formalities into the arrivals hall and look for a sign with your name.  Your driver from the African Rock Hotel will collect you for transport to the hotel. 

Enjoy your stay in this lovely area of Kempton with its tree lined residential streets.  Dinner is available at the hotels restaurant. 

Days 2 - 4: Okavango Delta

  This morning following breakfast at the hotel return with the driver to ORTambo to board your flight to Maun, Botswana. 

On arrival proceed thru customs/immigration and into the arrivals hall to meet your pilot from Wilderness Air.  Enjoy your flight over the waters of the Okavango Delta before arriving at the airstrip.  Transfer to the lodge for check-in and enjoy an afternoon game activity and dinner. 

Tubu Tree Camp is situated in the area with the most palatable grasses and the largest area of permanently dry land and is surrounded by diverse habitats ranging from dry Kalahari sandveld to mopane and riverine forest on the edge of permanent waterways, ensuring diverse and spectacular game viewing.The camp is built in traditional style with five tents on raised wooden platforms, allowing great views over the floodplains.

Each tent has a private front deck, en-suite bathroom facilities and an outdoor shower. The main dining and lounge areas and pool are also on raised platforms and an outdoor pub area lies under the canopy of a large marula tree.

For the next two nights explore Hunda isalnd well known for its concentrations of game offering spectacular wildlife  viewing by land and adventures on the water.  Wildlife includes elephant, lion, Burchell's zebra, red lechwe, southern giraffe, tsessebe, and blue wildebeest on the floodplains. Kudu, impala, leopard and bushbuck are also seen in the forested areas. The variety of bird life is impressive with dry-land species seen on the large islands and all the wetland birds seen on the floodplains and waterways.

The combination of activities makes time spent at Tubu Tree a complete Delta adventure.

Day 5: Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)

Depart from Tubu Tree after a morning activity by scheduled aircraft for your flight to Kasane where you will be met for ground transfer to Victoria Falls to The Victoria Falls Hotel.

The Victoria Falls Hotel was built in 1904 when the Cape to Cairo railway reached the Falls. Ever since, guests have been charmed by the old world atmosphere of one of the few remaining hotels of its kind in the world. Set in acres of lush lawns and exotic flora, the hotel is only a few minutes walk from the centre of Victoria Falls Town and a ten minute walk along the hotel's private path from the actual Falls. There's the splendid Livingstone Room for a full English breakfast, fine dining and dancing in the evenings; the Jungle Junction Summerhouse for more casual dining luncheon and dinner; Stanley's Terrace overlooking the famous Victoria Falls Bridge for casual breakfast buffet, snacks, luncheon, high tea, cocktails, and dinner under the stars; and the Bulawayo Room for pre-dinner champagne and after dinner port and cigars.

This evening enjoy dinner at one of several restaurants at the hotel, reservations can be made in advance.

Days 6 - 8: Eastern Hwange National Park

A very early breakfast so that you can meet your guide afor transfer to the National park and a guided tour of the Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.  (Park opens at 6:00AM). 

At 1708 meters (5604 ft) wide, it is the largest curtain of water in the world and drops 103 meters (338 ft) into the basalt depths of the sheer Zambezi Gorge. Accommodation for the night is at Toka Leya Camp; which is situated on the banks of the Zambezi River in the eastern sector of the Mosi-Oa- Tunya National Park, some 12 kms(7.46 miles) up from the Victoria Falls.

Return to the hotel and check out.  Depart for the airport to meet the light aircraft flight to Hwange and Davisons Camp.   There is time after getting situated in your room for a late afternoon game activity before returning to the lodge for dinner/overnight. 

Davison's Camp lies deep in Hwange National Park, in the south-eastern Linkwasha Concession - one of the best game viewing areas of the entire Park. It is a classic African tented camp, with both the tents and the separate main area, comprising a lounge, dining room, and open campfire area tastefully hidden beneath a grove of false mopane trees, overlooking a waterhole and open plain. A well-stocked bar is kept with all basic soft drinks, beers and spirits.

Over the next three days enjoy aActivities including game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, or guided walks in the early mornings, while during the siesta hours, guests can view wildlife coming down to the waterhole to drink from their tent veranda or the main area. Game viewing is productive year-round in the Linkwasha Concession and wildlife frequently encountered here includes lion, large herds of elephant, buffalo, leopard, white rhino, spotted hyaena, southern giraffe, sable, blue wildebeest, impala, common waterbuck and reedbuck. There are a number of large, open plains areas which make for excellent game viewing. Bird life in the area is prolific (400+) and varied, with species frequenting the teak woodlands as well as those typical of the drier Kalahari being present

Day 9: Cape Town

This morning following a morning game activity and breakfast return to the airstrip for your flight to Victoria Falls where you'll connect to your international flight to Cape Town, South Africa, mother city of the republic. 

 

Situated in Gardens, an old and established suburb of Cape Town at the foot of Table Mountain, Welgelegen comprises two beautiful turn of the century houses, lovingly renovated and decorated to reflect the uncompromising commitment to style. 

The name Welgelegen means “well located” in Dutch and as its name suggests is perfectly situated at the heart of Cape Town’s City Bowl.  On nearby Kloof streets, two minutes away you will find many of Cape Town’s finest restaurants and pubs, plenty to occupy your evenings.  Also within easy walking distance is the Company Gardens, National Museum & Art Gallery, Parliament Buildings and Greenmarket Square at the city centre.

  

Days 10 - 11: Cape Town

These two days are free to explore Cape Town and surrounds.   

Optional guided tours can be added, as can a car rental for exploring on your own. 

Day 12: End of Itinerary

Your last day in Cape Town to shop or explore the Waterfront this morning,  Depending on the time of departure meet your driver/guide for transfer to the airport and say farewell to the adventure.
