Tortuguero National park boat tour
After breakfast, you will enjoy the Wildlife-rich Tortuguero touring the navigable rainforest canals by boat. This tour will allow you the chance to see a large diversity of bird species, monkeys, sloths, crocodiles, and iguanas.
Tortuguero National Park is known as Costa Ricas "little Amazon". There are no roads - travel is by boat along a series of rivers and canals or by foot on forest paths. The park consists of a network of waterways surrounded by a vast tropical rainforest and is one of the best places to observe wildlife in Costa Rica. Tortuguero is a must for visitors who want to experience the amazing wonders of the tropical rainforest! In Tortuguero visitors will likely see 2 or 3 species of monkeys, iguanas, crested basilisk lizards (they look like miniature dinosaurs!), sloths, lots of water birds, toucans, parrots, parakeets, caiman (cousins of alligators), and possibly crocodiles, as well as colorful tropical forest birds.

After breakfast, board the boat to bring you back to the docks lining the Tortuguero Canals. At the docks board ground transfer to Guapiles. You will stop for lunch along the way at a local Restaurant. Transfer time will be approximately 2 hours (including the boat ride) plus any stops on the way.

Departing from Pacuare Lodge
After another great breakfast, you’ll depart between 9:00-10:00 am by raft for an exhilarating day of whitewater rafting past gorgeous tropical scenery (approximately 3½ hours over class III-IV rapids). This stretch of the Pacuare River flows through canyons and past waterfalls and virgin rainforest. You’re likely to catch glimpses of varied birds and other wildlife during the quiet stretches. A yummy, deli-style lunch will be served on the riverbank en route, and you’ll have a chance to change into dry clothes at our private facilities by the river take-out before the drive to your hotel.
Transfer from Guapiles to Puerto Viejo Limon
You will be picked up in Guapiles by one of our transport representatives for transfer to your hotel in Puerto Viejo - Limon. Transport service will be in a minivan with AC, approximately 3 hour transfer plus any stops on the way. Known for its laidback attitude and famous for its surfing, Puerto Viejo beckons visitors to come experience Costa Ricas eccentric side. The villages cultural influences are interesting to be sure: a mix of Afro-Caribbean, Bribri Indian, tico and hippyesque counterculture, this small porttown is an anthropological study in itself. A mere 11 miles (18 km) from Cahuita, Puerto Viejo is accessible via Highway 36 or by simply walking south, along the beach.
