During this full-day drive you will be able to enjoy the magnificent sight of the 12 Apostles, breath-taking views of Chapman's Peak, charming vistas over Noordhoek, Kommetjie, Scarborough, and eventually Cape Of Good Hope Nature Reserve and the iconic Cape Point.  You will also enjoy a circular drive in the reserve to admire the diversity and beauty of Fynbos and hopefully enjoy an encounter (or two) with some of its iconic residents, namely  Bontebok, Eland, Zebra, Chacma Baboon, Ostrich and perchance Caracal.

Lunch can be enjoyed in Simonstown or Kalk Bay depending on time, and a visit to Africa's largest, mainland, African Penguin colony is sure to spellbind you.

A stop in Kalk Bay's quaint and photogenic harbour is always blessed with a chance encounter with some of the largest cape fur seal bulls on the peninsula. Your last stop for the day is Muizenberg where you can photograph and enjoy the yesteryear sight of its colourful beach changing-houses.

With a full day of sights and experiences under your belt, you slowly drive back to CT and enjoy dinner at your leisure at a nearby restaurant of your choice.

We will be more than happy to recommend and assist you with the booking of such venues.

Day 3: Cape Town

After breakfast at your hotel, you will be picked up by an Africa Geographic representative for a private full-day tour of the Cape Winelands, with its historic vineyards and Cape Dutch architecture. Your slow safari will meander through Stellenbosch, where your first stop will be a cellar tour and wine & chocolate pairing. The chocolate is artisanal and Fair Trade accredited. After more beautiful scenery of rolling vineyards and historic homesteads, your second stop will be a boutique Stellenbosch wine estate for an intimate cheese & wine pairing with the winemaker.  Through the course of the day, you will visit 5 of the Capes' finest wineries and will be introduced to their best wines and how to best appreciate them as you indulge in “wine in the making” straight from the barrel/tanks.

A  guided driven tour through the historical town of Stellenbosch will ensue and eventually head over the pass to Franschhoek where you will learn about the influence of the French Huguenots on the local wine industry. In this, the cuisine capital of South Africa, you will enjoy lunch on an award-winning wine estate and stroll down the main road of this quaint town with its restaurants and gift shops. Your last stop on this gastronomic celebration is a wine estate at the foot of the craggy Franschhoek Mountains, for another session of world-class wine tasting.

With a spoiled palate, a belly full and spoiled by spectacular views you will slowly make your way back into Cape Town and your accommodation.  Please note that the above itinerary is subject to the wine estates’ availability on the day.

Your evening plan is for you to choose, and once again we will be happy to suggest options for an unforgettable night out.

All other destinations mentioned below are easily accessed via taxi / Uber, and convenient online bookings will secure your place (where applicable).

Nestled between a rugged mountain range and the Atlantic Ocean, Cape Town is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It’s also one of the most popular tourist destinations in all of Africa. This multicultural city enjoys a superb natural setting, pristine beaches, sophisticated infrastructure and a mild, Mediterranean climate. And there is no shortage of world-class trendy restaurants and a vibrant nightlife for all tastes. It’s no wonder that Cape Town is the crown jewel of the country.

A few city and peninsula headline acts include Table Mountain (cable car to the top is weather permitting) and Lion’s Head; the most iconic landmark in South Africa, the magnificent Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, Castle of Good Hope, Bo-Kaap, the Noon-day Gun, Greenmarket Square and the famous Robben Island (ferry is weather-permitting); where Nelson Mandela and other political prisoners were imprisoned during the apartheid years. For those with an interest in history and culture, we offer tours to visit the District Six Museum and Slave Lodge to explore how the Dutch and British colonised Cape Town, and a walking tour of Langa township.

For the active traveller, the Cape Town peninsula is a treasure trove for hiking and mountain biking trails, kayaking from Moellie Point , Zip-lining in the Hottentots Holland Mountains, Para-gliding from Lion's Head, helicopter flips over Table Mountain and the Peninsula, kite-surfing in Blouberg, Shark watching in False Bay, Whale watching in Hermanus, or strolling the magnificent botanical gardens of Kirstenbosch – in fact just about every physical outdoor pursuit is catered for within a relatively short radius of the city.

After a full day exploring Cape Town you will be returned to your hotel to rest and relax before you are transferred to your dining venue of choice. After dinner and loads of fun, you return to your hotel for a good night’s sleep.

Day 5: Ng12 Concession

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Cape Town International Airport to check-in for your flight to Maun Airport .

Upon arrival in Maun, you will be met by a Moremi air representative who will provide you with your E-tickets for your 30-minute charter flight to Duba Explorers Camp airstrip.

Duba Explorers is a sister camp to Duba Plains which was already reputed to be Botswana's most remote safari camp, located on a private 77,000-acre concession and run by the Okavango Community Trust. Duba Explorers Camp location in north Duba is in an area where wildlife viewing is second-to-none.

Lying in the middle of the largest expanse of sand on earth the Okavango Delta is one of Africa’s most amazing, sensitive and complex environments. Unique as the largest of the world’s few inland deltas, the placid waters and lush indigenous forests offer a safe haven for innumerable bird and wildlife species. The renowned Duba Explorers Camp sits in the heart of classic Okavango Delta habitat. A matrix of palm-dotted islands, flood plains and woodland, the 77,000 hectare private concession typifies the region’s unique landscape. Many consider Duba Plains Reserve to be the Okavango’s Maasai Mara because of the sheer volume of wildlife.

Duba Explorers Camp is a wildlife connoisseur’s getaway. This intimate camp, with its own private traversing area within the concession and away from that of Duba Plains Camp consists of five expedition-style tents of light airy canvas on slightly raised decking, each with views of the surrounding floodplain. Each tent has a small desk and private verandah plus en-suite facilities consisting of flush loo, double basins and indoor shower. Fans and careful open-air design maintain comfortable climate for rest and relaxation.  The main area is under sweeping marquee canvas, on raised decking and consists of an open-concept dining and lounge area which opens to the outdoors on all sides. In the evenings, the fire pit is always a popular spot to enjoy an Amarula and recount the day’s events.

The day you arrive, you will be able to enjoy a game drive in the PM and on your return, after a shower and a change of clothes, a drink by the fire ( or two!!), dinner will be served.

Soon after, you may stay and enjoy the incredible starry skies, or merely retire to your room to be lulled to sleep by the sounds of a thousand clicking frogs or the dainty spectacle of fireflies over the water.

Day 6: Ng12 Concession

This area of the northern Delta consists of wide open plains and grasslands and is excellent for seeing herds and big cats.   Originally the Duba Plains Camp was used as a filming base by owners the Jouberts, before becoming an explorer style tented camp - attracting photographers and serial safari go-ers. Owned by Great Plains Conservation, the Jouberts have made many a documentary from Duba Plains and the interaction between buffalo and the Tsaro lion pride has made the camp somewhat famous. However in 2014 the lion pride split, forming two prides, and so this famous 'face-off' is no longer a given, and interaction between the two is rather more unpredictable although you will still see a wonderful array of wildlife during your stay.

Duba Explorers Camp prides itself on its extraordinary wildlife experiences, and rightly so. Guests of the camp enjoy regular sightings of a diverse range of species, including lion, buffalo, red lechwe, blue wildebeest, greater kudu and tsessebe. Elephant and hippo trudge through the swamps and leopard, and some nocturnal species, can be sighted as well. Birds abound, and the area is a birdwatcher’s paradise. Okavango ‘specials’ include the rare wattled crane, Pel’s Fishing owl, white-backed night heron and marsh owl. This camp is the ONLY operator on the concession, offering guests the ultimate opportunity for private wildlife sightings.

Whilst at Duba Explorers you can enjoy the quintessential Delta experience of a mokoro (traditional canoe) ride and explore the area’s labyrinths of permanent water channels and secret islands. The complete stillness of an early morning in the Delta is truly a sublime experience.

Go on game drives with a guide-and-tracker team, and be on the lookout for predators like cheetah, leopard, wild dog and lion. Duba Explorer’s Toyota Land Cruisers are aptly named ‘Swamp Vehicles’ due to their extra-high suspension and absolutely huge tyres uniquely designed to traverse the floodplains.

Duba Explorers Camp is a combination activity-based camp, allowing guests to explore the Okavango Delta’s permanent channels by boat when water levels allow, this is truly an invigorating, yet peaceful experience, allowing for wildlife and birding viewing from the comfort of a smooth boat ride.

Your program of activities is flexible and yours to choose, so feel free to discuss with your guide what exactly you would like to do over the next few days.

Enjoy guided walks on early morning and late afternoons in of the most stunning and varied wildlife areas in the world

Day 7: Ng12 Concession

While game vehicles traverse much greater distances, nature walks inspire, humble and afford a remarkable appreciation of Africa’s natural environment. Your eyes will be opened up to a world of smaller plants, insects and tracks easily missed while in a vehicle.  Game walks are not hikes and are meant to be comfortable strolls providing you with a chance to experience the wilderness in all its beauty. Walks can be combined with game drives or mokoro trips and the length of walk can be adjusted to suit your personal desires or level of fitness.

During a stay at Duba Explorers Camp you are invited to step into the shoes of the early adventurers. Guided game walks, which is the specialist wildlife viewing activity of Duba Explorers Camp, are available with licensed, armed guides. There is simply no better way to experience the magic of this unique destination and these walks are ideally combined with the wildlife viewing activities such as heading out on mekoro or boat. Explore the islands, wetlands and plains, following the tracks and interpreting the signs of the wild. Who knows?? you might even be lucky enough to get a glimpse of a rare sitatunga or an elusive leopard.

Whatever you choose to do you are in the best hands, treat yourself beyond your comfort zone and churn up new experiences and memories for a lifetime to enjoy.
