Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City

After breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for your flight MH 2605 to Ho Chi Minh departing at 10:45, connecting with flight MH 758 from Kuala Lumpur at 13:15.

On arrival in Ho Chi Minh at 15:40 you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Late afternoon depart for a discovery of Ho Chi Minh City during a dinner-cruise. Enjoy the views and new perspectives of a modern city with a turbulent history, while savouring delicious Vietnamese dishes.

Welcome dinner on board the cruise Bonsai.

Day 2: Ho Chi Minh City

After breakfast, the day is dedicated to the discovery of Saigon, the economic capital of the country. Walk in Chinatown "Cho Lon" which houses the Thien Hau Pagoda. This Pagoda was built in honour of the protective Goddess of the sailors.

From there, visit Giac Lam Pagoda, the oldest pagoda of the city. The morning will conclude with a final stop at a lacquer factory to learn the manufacturing process.

In the afternoon, visit the old colonial residential quarter, including the City Hall, built from 1902-1908 in a French colonial style, Opera House, built in 1897 by French Architect Eugene Ferret, the contemporary Independence Palace (inside) and the elegant 19th century Notre-Dame Cathedral. Then stroll around the Central Post Office, a neoclassical architectural structure, built in the early 20th century by Eiffel. Return back to hotel in the late afternoon.

Day 3: Can Tho

Ho Chi Minh City – Cai Be – Vinh Long – Can Tho

After breakfast, drive to Cai Be in the heart of the Mekong Delta. On arrival, board on a sampan boat for a cruise on the Mekong River and its myriad of canals to Vinh Long. Visit an old colonial house and a rice popcorn factory.

Enjoy a tasting of local specialties for lunch.

In the afternoon, continue the journey to Vinh Long and then drive to Can Tho, the largest town in the Mekong Delta.

Day 4: Chau Doc

Can Tho – Chau Doc

After breakfast, board on a Sampan boat to visit the vibrant Cai Rang floating market (where each day the boats are filled with fruits and vegetables) and witness the rural life and the beautiful vegetation along the riverbanks. Then stroll through Can Tho’s market and then drive to Chau Doc, near the Cambodian border.

On arrival, lunch at local restaurant then climb Mount Nui Sam (284m), a centre of Buddhist pilgrimage also dotted with dozens of temples and pagodas bringing together Chinese, Cham and Khmer’s influences.

On arrival visit the most important religious sites before heading back to town and check-in at hotel.

Day 5: Ho Chi Minh City

Chau Doc – Ho Chi Minh City

After breakfast navigate through a fascinating floating village where fishes are bred for export.

Stop at a Cham village, to meet the minority Muslim community and visit a mosque. Return back to Ho Chi Minh City via Cao Lanh road and stop for lunch.

Arrive in the evening and check-in at the hotel.

Day 6: Siem Reap

Ho Chi Minh City – Cu Chi Tunnel – Siem Reap

After breakfast, depart by jeep to one of the most dramatic site in the history of the Vietnam War: Cu Chi Tunnels. Visit the underground city, an immense network of connecting underground tunnels, and are part of a much larger network of tunnels that underlie much of the country. The tunnel systems were of great importance to the Viet Cong in their resistance to American forces, and helped to counter the growing American military effort.

Return to Ho Chi Minh City by road and lunch at local restaurant.

Transfer to Ho Chi Minh City airport for the flight K6 821 to Siem Reap departing at 16:00.

On arrival in Siem Reap at 17:10 you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Day 7: Siem Reap

Siem Reap

After breakfast, visit the ancient capital of Angkor Thom, a huge architectural complex with the famous Bayon Temple at its centre. This mountain-temple was once surrounded by 54 towers. On each of the 37 remaining, 4 enigmatic faces can still be recognized. Then, explore Baphuon, which was fully restored by a team of French archaeologists after 16 years of work.

Lunch at local restaurant.

In the afternoon, visit Angkor Wat (early-mid 12th century) dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu. This magnificent temple-mountain, built by King Suryavarman II is considered as the masterpiece of the Khmer architecture and art.

Finally, discover the fascinating Ta Phrom Temple, probably one of the most famous monuments with Angkor Wat and the Bayon. This former monastery is still surrounded by the jungle.
