14-day Glamping Adventure: Cape Town, Route 62, Garden Route and Cape Winelands

Day 1: Cape Town

On arrival in Cape Town you will be met and transferred privately to your hotel situated at the V&A Waterfront.  

After you settle in, spend the rest of your day exploring the city. 

 

Day 2: Cape Town

While enjoying the next 2 full days at leisure in Cape Town where you can select from a range of optional tours and activities. The most popular Cape Town tours are: 

  • Go hiking in Table Mountain National Park or take a rotating cable car to the top for 360-degree views.
  • Visit Boulders Beach to see the only colony of African penguins in the world. 
  • The Cape of Good Hope is also a popular excursion for visitors staying in Cape Town

Day 3: Cape Town

You'll have today to explore Cape Town at your own pace! There is much to see and do in South Africa's most sophisticated city—a melting pot of people and cultures, including Africans, Europeans, and Malays, topped off with magnificent scenery and abundant outdoor life. 

Suggestions include:

  • Walk around Bo-Kaap, one of Cape Town's most colorful and historic neighborhoods, for homes and mosques painted in vibrant rainbow colors including blues, purples, pinks, yellows, and greens.
  • Experience Cape Town through the eyes of passionate, local guides and storytellers on a gentle  cycle through the heart and soul of the city of Cape Town.
  • Visit historical sites like the Castle of Good Hope, a fort from the 17th century, and St. George's Cathedral, the oldest cathedral in Southern Africa.
  • Sample fresh seafood and international cuisine at a range of restaurants all over town.

Day 4: Breede River Valley

This morning your rental vehicle will be delivered to you at your hotel and you will head off on your road trip. A short 2 hour drive from Cape Town, Robertson is a little Town situated in the shadow of the majestic Langeberg Mountains.  Known as the valley of wine and roses, at the heart of the Route 62 wine route - Robertson has a 150 years of history, and has grown into one of the most attractive Cape Wine lands towns with its many Victorian Buildings, jacaranda-lined streets and beautiful gardens.

Upon arrival at the Camp, you will be met by your hosts , who will after check in escort you to your unique Boutique Camping Tent where you will spend the next two days at own leisure.

Day 5: Breede River Valley

Today you have the choice of the following activities:

  • Swimming
  • Mountain Biking 
  • Fishing 
  • Three hiking trails 3-5 hours
  • Canoeing

Activities in the area

    • Guided wine tours 
    • Viljoensdrift River Cruise: Fill a picnic basket in the Viljoensdrift Deli and enjoy the cruise along the Breede River
    • Klaasvoogds Meander: Just off the popular R60 between Robertson and Ashton, the Klaasvoogds Meander weaves through vineyards, guest houses, restaurants, wineries, and even a wellness centre and spa.

Day 6: Oudtshoorn

This morning, you set off to Oudtshoorn continuing on Route 62. The road follows winding and spectacular mountain passes that slowly unfold before your eyes, leading to lush green valleys hosting crystal streams and framed by the distorted geological shapes and colors of rock faces dating from hundreds of millions of years ago.

Aim to arrive around lunchtime so you can enjoy an afternoon activity like visit the Cango Caves, walking through the first six largest and most spectacular halls and continuing through to the "African Drum room".

Day 7: Oudtshoorn

Explore more of the Klein Karoo at own leisure. 

Suggested activities include: 

  • Authentic Working Ostrich Farm Tour: A unique guided tour of our working ostrich farm, including an exclusive viewing of the incubator and each stage of ostrich farming. During season you can even help the chicks hatch! (+/- 2 hours)
  • Meerkat Safari -One of the highlights when visiting us is the introduction of our Meerkat Family! Join us on an early morning drive down to the Meerkat burrows. Your guide will introduce you to the daily lives of these cute creatures.

  • Hike through the Swartberg Pass

Day 8: Plettenberg Bay

Today the road takes to you to Plettenberg Bay a city famous for its beaches. It’s a popular place especially for families who want to spend time together on the beach. You can come here and grab a drink overlooking the beach, or jump in the water. 

Enroute the following activities are suggested: 

  • See the Knysna Heads at the Eastern Viewpoint – One of the best spots to get a view over the lagoon in Kynsna!
  • Knysna Elephant Park – You’ve got a lot of chances to see elephants on this trip

Day 9: Plettenberg Bay

Today you have the choice of the following activities:

  • Go fishing with a local
  • Hiking Trails
  • Swimming Pool
  • Wood-fired Hot Tubs

Day 10: Wilderness

This morning, say goodbye to the lush green forests of Plettenberg Bay and continue your journey the Wilderness, home to wide beaches and trails. The Map of Africa, a hilltop lookout point, has views of the Indian Ocean, the Outeniqua Mountains and the Kaaimans River. The birding and walks in the Wilderness National Park, will have you will be spoiled for choice.

Day 11: Wilderness

Today you have the choice of the following activities:

  • Guided formal dairy tour
  • Mountain Bike and Trail Running Tracks

Activities in the area:

  • Paragliding 
  • Have a beach day 

Day 12: Wellington

Your final adventure takes you to Wellington, situated at the foot of the Groenberg on the banks of the Kromme Rivier (Dutch for Bend River) and forms the center of the Cape Winelands with its picturesque environment and numerous wineries. 

A visit to Wellington's berry farm is an absolute must. Strawberries, Raspberries, Youngberries as well as Cape Gooseberries are grown here. 

 

Day 13: Wellington

Today you have the choice of the following activities: 

  • Wine Tasting
  • Wellington Museum
  • Visit Stellenbosch
  • Visit Franschhoek 

Day 14: End of Itinerary

It's time to say goodbye to South Africa! At the designated time, you'll make the drive back to Cape Town International Airport where you will return the car and check in for your trip home. If you have time before the flight, check out more of the city before your departure. Safe travels!
