Days 7 - 8: Manyoni Private Game Reserve

We're told that winter is the time to stay indoors, cuddle up, and do little to nothing – but that rhetoric simply cannot be applied to life in the bush. At Leopard Mountain Safari Lodge, you can still do all of the red-wine-and-fireplace wintery things, but we'd recommend getting your adrenaline pumping and experiencing the thrill of adventure travel and the unexpected in the heart of Zululand.

The Manyoni Private Game Reserve’s Big 5 adds excitement to any holiday - with residents notorious for being highly unpredictable and you never know who you may bump into on a safari. Drawing inspiration from the bush, almost everything is impromptu and a complete surprise at Leopard Mountain Safari Lodge - apart from the very predictable warm hospitality and luxury accommodation.

The bush is the perfect holiday for Adrenaline Junkies as well as those Adventurous Souls who prefer things like spa treatments and Zululand Rhino Orphanage visits. Makakatana Bay Lodge offers adventure travel holidays daily. Don’t believe us? Just last month a crocodile took a reedbuck as it came down to drink, while an opportunistic hyena followed in hot pursuit. Thinking he’d get a free meal, the hyena leant in to grab the reedbuck, but the croc had other plans and swapped his meal for the hyena instead – all while our guests watched on at the Makakatana Pan.

The iSimangaliso Wetland Park promises plenty of heart-racing moments like these, along with the surrounding beaches giving you an opportunity to experience the thrill of the Indian Ocean while riding its waves or swimming underneath them.

How you do bush and beach is completely up to you, however we can arrange a holiday that’s either tame or adrenaline junkie approved.
