Cape Town

Day notes

Below are some suggested activities and sightseeing to do whilst in Cape Town (excluded from your pricing);

  • Table Mountain: Walk, hike (and abseil), or take the cable car to the top of Table Mountain.
  • Cape Point: The most southern point of the Cape Peninsula and where legends tell us that the two oceans, the Atlantic and the Indian, meet. This conservation area is breath taking and will leave an impression that will stay with you for ever.
  • Signal Hill: Watch the historic firing of the Noon Day Gun on the slopes of Signal Hill
  • Company Gardens: Feed the squirrels and enjoy tea in the Company Gardens - peace within a buzzing urban metropolis
  • Township Cultural Tours: An excellent opportunity to be guided around the townships, interacting with the locals and even having a drink or meal at a sheebeen (tavern) or restaurant.
  • Horse ride: On Noordhoek Beach and experience breath-taking views of the ocean and Chapman’s Peak
  • Robben Island: Visit this World Heritage Site where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 27 years
  • Helicopter Flights: Get a bird’s eye view of Cape Town and take in the sights from a different perspective.
  • Paraglide: Over the shores of Camps Bay, boasting some of the most spectacular views in the world
  • Beaches: Relax at one of Cape Town’s famous beaches, Clifton, Camps Bay or Llandudno
  • Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens & the Boomslang Walkway: This world renowned garden is host to a huge range of South African flora. The Botanical Gardens are well respected for the research they do to protect some of the most endangered species of plants found in the Peninsula. Pack a picnic and enjoy lunch in the Gardens.
  • Sundowners: Enjoy your favourite sundowner at one of the many restaurants and pubs in Green Point
  • Underground Tunnel & Dungeon Tour: During the early days of Cape Town canals and rivers acted as routes of travel and supplied the Company Gardens and ships with fresh water. Still in existence today these tunnels – approximately two meters in diameter – are located under the busy streets of the CBD and now help with storm water drainage, channel fresh run-off water from Table Mountain (straight into the sea).
  • Oranjezicht City Farm - inner city garden: celebrating local food, culture and community through urban farming in Cape Town
  • Explore Cape Town on a City Walking Tour: St Georges Cathedral (hear about Desmond Tutu), The Parliament and Presidents house (the land of many capitals), The Old Strand and Old Mutual Building (African style architecture and where the beach used to be), City Hall (where Mandela gave his world famous speech), Green Market Square (“Africa made in China”), The Parade and the Castle of Good Hope (an early pentagon), District Six, The Flower Market (meet South Africa’s National flower “in person”), The Slave Lodge (where thousands of slaves were kept), and Company Gardens (with probably the world’s oldest pear tree and the begging squirrels)
  • Experience Bo Kaap on a Walking Tour & Cape Malay Cooking Experience: Long Street (hear about the party street of Cape Town), Auwal Masjeed (the oldest mosque in Cape Town founded by “Tuan Guru” himself), The old tailors house, The Doctors house (where it all started with the different colored houses), Biesmiellah Malay Restaurant and also Cape Malay food, The Atlas Spice Trading Centre (where you can smell the spices of the east and maybe do some shopping), Chiappini Street (arguably the most beautiful street in town – where the cameras start clicking), and Bree Street (trendy cafes, restaurants and bars)
  • Enjoy high tea: Spend an afternoon of bliss enjoying high tea at the likes of The One & Only, Mount Nelson, Table Bay, and 12 Apostles Hotel
  • Harley Davidson Tours: See Cape Town from the back of a Harley Davidson and careen around the curves of some of the most scenic roads in the world. There’s something exhilarating about being able to smell the sea and feel the wind in your hair
  • Power boating around Cape Point: Round the Cape of Storms in a powerboat for a truly unique way to appreciate the stunning views and rugged, dramatic beauty of Cape Point from the ocean.
  • Devil’s Peak Brewing Company & The Taproom Restaurant: Producing world class examples of American, Belgian and English style ales. From bold, American IPAs to light and easy drinking session ales.Enjoy a craft beer and food pairing board.
  • Mother’s Ruin Gin Bar: A venue that’s purportedly Africa’s first dedicated gin bar, on one of the hippest streets in Cape Town.
  • Hope on Hopkins Gin Distillery: Cape Town’s first gin distillery in the heart of the city.
  • Simons Town: Coming around the east side of the Peninsula on the False Bay side you can visit Simon’s Town, home to the South African Navy. Whilst in the area, it is definitely worthwhile visiting Boulders Beach which is home to hundreds of African penguins.
  • Constantia Wine Estates: The mixture of mountain drives and valleys covered in vines, make this a stunning part of the Cape. The main estates are Buitenverwachting, Constantia Uitsig, Groot Constantia, Klein Constantia and Steenberg.
  • Shark Diving: The perfect tour for those who want to get up close and personal with a Great White Shark.
  • Mountain Biking: There are escorted trips available on the mountain, around Constantia and in the Cape Point section of the Cape Peninsula National Park.
  • Winelands Tour: Visit Stellenbosch with its tree-lined streets and historical architecture; Franschhoek, arguable the most beautiful part of the Winelands and; Paarl, the ‘pearl of the Cape’. Enjoy wine tastings and cellar tours.
  • Franschhoek Wine Tram: explore the Franschhoek wine valley on the renovated Tram & Trambus visiting some of the excellent wine estates in the region
