Day 2: Cape Town

This morning depart from your hotel for a  half day tour of the city.   

Visit one of the new seven wonders of nature and take in the exceptional beauty of Table Mountain. Travel through the Malay Quarter, city centre and Company Gardens, and if time permits, the Castle of Good Hope.

Highlights of this half day tour include: a visit up Table Mountain on the cableway where the various flora and fauna will be explained (the cableway ticket is not included as the mountain visit is weather permitting); Malay Quarter, city centre and Company Gardens, time permitting the Castle of Good Hope; photographic opportunities of Table Mountain from Table Bay and Cape Town Diamond Works.

Day 3: Oudtshoorn

CAPE TOWN to OUDTSHOORN via ROUTE 62

Leaving Cape Town this morning you will travel inland, via Route 62, towards Oudtshoorn. Route 62 meanders through vineyards, mountain vistas and the unique topography of the semi-arid Klein Karoo. Stop in the picture perfect towns of  Barrydale, located at the foot of the Langeberg Mountains. In a secluded valley, once an ancient lake, discover Calitzdorp, South Africa’s port wine capital. ). Oudtshoorn, dubbed ‘the ostrich capital of the world’, boasts over 400 ostrich farms and several, so-called, Feather Mansions. Learn an appreciation for the industry. Relax and delight in the friendly Klein Karoo hospitality.

Day 4: Knysna

OUDTSHOORN to KNYSNA via WILDERNESS

Enjoy a country breakfast, at the hotel, before the tour departs for Knysna. The tour visits the Cango Caves, a 20-million-year-old national treasure in the foothills of the Swartberg Mountains, before continuing over the Outeniqua Mountains to the Garden Route. Admire sweeping views from Dolphin Point and the Map of Africa (weather permitting). In Knysna guests board a boat and enjoy a sunset Knysna oyster tour. This informative cruise introduces foodies to local wines and the culinary delights of a wild Knysna oyster. Dinner is served at a Knysna Estuary restaurant.

Day 5: Albertinia

KNYSNA to ALBERTINIA via MOSSEL BAY

Depart the hotel after breakfast and head for the historical harbour town of Mossel Bay. Visit the Dias Museum Complex, inclusive of several different museums, including the Shell and Maritime Museums. At the centre of the museum complex is the Post Office Tree. This ancient Milkwood tree has served as a post office since the 1500’s.   This afternoon we continue westwoods to  a private Game reserve where we spend the night.  This afternoon head out into the bush in search of the Big 5 in  open 4 x 4 safari vehicles

Day 6: Cape South Coast

ALBERTINIA to ARNISTON via SWELLENDAM

Enjoy an early morning game drive. Return to the lodge for breakfast and a visit to the informative Reptile Centre. The tour departs for Arniston, a small coastal village in the Overberg region on the Cape south coast.

Day 7: Cape Town

ARNISTON to CAPE TOWN via FALSE BAY

Leisure breakfast before departing for Cape Agulhas, the southernmost tip of Africa and where the warm Indian Ocean meets the cool Atlantic. The Cape of Storms is notorious for its many wrecks and, most notably, for recorded tales of courage in the face of adversity and the origin of the Birkenhead Drill - ‘women and children first’. Visit a South African National Monument – the Cape Agulhas Lighthouse and Museum; the third lighthouse to be built in South Africa and the second-oldest currently in operation. Continue on to Hermanus, a coastal town renowned for its whale watching. In season (July to November) the Southern Right Whale returns to these waters to calve. The tour continues its meander along False Bay’s coast and concludes, late afternoon, at your Cape Town city hotel.

Day 8: End of Itinerary

The tour ends this morning after breakfast, proceeding back to Cape Town for your transfer for your departure flight. 

Go Beyond!!! Take either the luxurious Blue Train or Rovos Rail back to Johannesburg,  fly to  a private game reserve in Kruger  for more game viewing,  or perhaps visit the magestic Victoria Falls and take  a cruise along the Zambezi or Chobe River.  Our expert consultants will plan your perfect African adventure.
