9-day Cape Town, Garden Route & Mabula

Day 1: Cape Town

On arrival at Cape Town International Airport, you will collect your luggage and proceed through customs. You will be met by your Southern Africa 360 representative and privately transfer you to your Hotel located in the heart of the City.

After check in you are free to explore the surrounding area and visit any of the Local restaurants within walking distance which includes an Indian Restaurant.

Day 2: Cape Town

Today you will enjoy a Private half day City Tour where you will find a number of the Cape's top attractions, from Table Mountain to the imposing Castle of Good Hope to the colourful cottages of the Bo Kaap, the bustling Green Market Square, the South African Museum, and the beautiful Company Gardens.

Should the cableway up Table Mountain not be operating you will be taken to Table View for a “postcard view” of Table Mountain. 

The afternoon you are at leisure, we can recommend spending some time at the V&A Waterfront which has a wide variety of shops, entertainment and restaurants on offer. 

Day 3: Cape Town

After breakfast embark on a full day touring of the ruggedly beautiful Cape Peninsula. See all the top sights along South Africa’s Cape Peninsula on this full-day tour from Cape Town. Explore Hout Bay and take an optional boat trip to Duiker Island (own expense). Spend time at leisure in Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and take a return Funicular trip to the top of Cape Point and visit Simon’s Town on the peninsula’s east coast - home to a colony of African penguins! On the drive back you may have time to stop for a walk at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.

Day 4: Knysna

After breakfast, travel from Cape Town to Knysna, a lovely seaside town along the Garden Route passing many towns including the Cape Winelands, Mossel Bay, George and Wilderness along the way to stop for lunch before checking in at your hotel after 14:00.

The afternoon you are free to explore the town making sure to visit the Knysna Waterfront, one of the most popular leisure and shopping destinations in the regions, boasting a superior marina and the departure point for your Sunset John Benn Cruise (weather permitting) ending the day with dinner at one of their famous restaurants.

Activities and Services

Day 5: Knysna

After breakfast, depart for a full day Oudtshoorn day trip, located in heart of the scenic the Klein Karoo known for its ostrich farms and rests along the Route 62 wine route. Here you will enjoy visiting the famous Cango Caves (Africa’s Biggest show cave system before proceeding onto Cango Wildlife Ranch and ending the day feeding ostriches at Safari Ostrich Farm. 

Your afternoon is at leisure.

Day 6: The Waterberg Biosphere

This being your last morning in the Garden Route, drive to George Airport for your flight to Johannesburg.

On arrival at OR Tambo International airport you will collect your luggage and be met by a Southern Africa 360 representative before transferring to the Mabula Private Game Reserve and your Lodge for the next 2 days. Lunch is served at 12:00 before departing on an Afternoon game drive. After the Game drive return to the Lodge to freshen up before dinner - tuck into a mouthwatering impala casserole or a delicious vegetarian dish. Mabula Game Lodge serves up a staggering array of appetizing dishes to tempt your vegetarian or carnivorous palate.

Day 7: The Waterberg Biosphere

Safaris are offered to lodge guests twice a day – once early morning and again in time for sundowners in the late afternoon, and depending on the time of year you visit, each experience can be unique. Watch the vivid change of the seasons as the green thickets and grasslands give way to the bushveld greys and yellows of autumn. Feel the chilly winter air on your cheeks before sunrise and witness the rebirth of the bush as the first summer rains fall and with it the exciting arrival of lambing season.

Day 8: Johannesburg

This morning at the Lodge, you will start with a warm beverage and morning game drive (time permitting) and end with a delicious breakfast at the  lodge before transferring to Johannesburg informally known as Jozi, Joburg or 'The City of Gold'. Optional activities possible en-route depending on time.  

Check in at the Hotel after 14:00 and spend the rest of the afternoon exploring Emporers Palace which offers a glorious health and beauty spa, a magnificent casino with unparalleled gaming enjoyment and the finest dining options.

Day 9: End of Itinerary

This being your last morning, you will start with a warm breakfast before receiving a complimentary shuttle transfer to OR Tambo International Airport for your departure flight.
