Day 1: Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve

Your journey begins at the entrance of the Cuyabeno River, where you will enjoy a delicious box lunch.

Afterward, your naturalist guide will provide information about the Reserve and important recommendations to begin the two-hour boat ride down the Cuyabeno River to Jamu Lodge.

During the canoe ride, you'll get a first glimpse of the jungle and can observe different types of birds such as caciques, oropendolas, and the prehistoric Hoatzin.

You may also have the chance to spot a variety of monkeys and other jungle animals, depending on the weather and conditions. You will arrive at Jamu Lodge around 4:30 pm.

At that point, your room will be shown to you, and you'll have some time to relax. After a nap, you’ll head out from the lodge to swim in the lagoon and watch a beautiful sunset in the middle of the Laguna Grande. Then, you’ll return to the camp for dinner, and you can finish your first day in the jungle by relaxing in a hammock or enjoying a drink at the bar.

Day 2: Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve

Your second day begins with a delicious breakfast, after which you'll embark on a 3- to 4-hour hike through the primary forest, where your guide will explain the tropical forest and medicinal plants.

You may also see large trees like the Ceibo or small insects like ants.

You’ll return to the lodge for lunch and a rest, and in the afternoon, you'll head out to see the beautiful butterflies and swim in the lagoon. If possible, you'll also have the chance to spot the beautiful pink dolphins and enjoy the stunning sunset. Afterward, you'll return to the lodge for dinner.

In the evening, you'll take part in a nocturnal activity focused on searching for caimans along the riverbanks.

Day 3: Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve

After breakfast, you’ll depart in a canoe downstream for about an hour to visit a family from the Tarapuy community.

You’ll learn how to prepare Casabe, a traditional Yuca bread, and you’ll even help in its preparation.

You’ll also learn how to use jungle materials to make bread, and you'll spend the whole day on this activity. You’ll return to the Lodge around 2:00 pm.

After lunch, you'll have some relaxation time. To end the day, you'll take a short walk through the primary forest focused on observing nocturnal insects, such as spiders, geckos, or scorpions, and listening to the sounds of the night.

Day 4: End of Itinerary

On the third and final day of the tour, early in the morning before breakfast, you’ll have the option to join a birdwatching excursion, which will depend on the weather conditions.

Upon returning to the lodge, you'll enjoy a delicious breakfast, and then you'll be transferred back to the Cuyabeno Reserve Bridge, where your journey with us will come to an end.
