Day 1: Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve

In the morning, your tour will begin at 11:30 am at the entrance of the Cuyabeno River, where you’ll enjoy a delicious box lunch.

 

Afterward, your naturalist guide will share important information about the Reserve, along with helpful recommendations to prepare you for a two-hour canoe ride along the Cuyabeno River toward Jamu Lodge.

In the afternoon, during the canoe ride, you'll get your first glimpse of the stunning rainforest. Keep an eye out for various birds such as caciques, orioles, and the prehistoric Hoatzin, as well as monkeys and other wildlife—depending on the weather and time of day.

You'll arrive at Jamu Lodge around 2:30 pm, where the friendly staff will welcome you and show you to your room so you can relax and settle in.

Once you've had some time to rest and recharge, you'll head out to Laguna Grande to experience a breathtaking sunset over the water.

In the evening, after this magical moment, you'll return to the lodge to enjoy a well-deserved dinner. You can end your first day in the jungle by relaxing in a hammock or enjoying a drink at the bar.

Day 2: Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve

In the morning, you’ll start the day with a rich breakfast before heading out on a 3 to 4-hour walk through the primary forest. During the hike, your guide will explain the wonders of the tropical forest, including the use of medicinal plants. Along the way, you’ll observe towering trees like the ceibo and tiny creatures such as ants—giving you a true sense of the forest’s incredible biodiversity.

After this jungle adventure, you’ll return to the lodge to enjoy a well-deserved lunch.

In the afternoon, you’ll have some time to relax before heading out to see beautiful butterflies and take a refreshing swim in the lagoon. If you're lucky, you might even spot the stunning pink river dolphins and enjoy the spectacular sunset over the water.

In the evening, you’ll return to the lodge for dinner. Afterward, you’ll head out on a night excursion along the riverbanks in search of alligators—a thrilling way to end the day in the Amazon.

Day 3: Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve

Early in the morning before breakfast, you’ll have the option to join a birdwatching excursion this activity depends heavily on weather conditions but offers a special chance to see the forest come alive at dawn.

After breakfast, you’ll head downstream in a canoe on a one-hour journey to visit a family from the Tarapuy community. There, you’ll take part in preparing traditional cassava bread, known locally as Casabe. During this hands-on experience, you’ll learn to use jungle materials and utensils to make the bread, gaining insight into the local way of life. This activity will take up most of the day, and you’ll return to the lodge around 2:00 pm.

In the afternoon, after enjoying lunch, you’ll have time to relax and rest.

In the evening, you’ll set out on a short walk through the primary forest, this time focused on observing nocturnal insects such as spiders, geckos, and scorpions, while soaking in the mysterious and enchanting sounds of the jungle at night.

Day 4: End of Itinerary

If you chose the 4-day / 3-night tour, then on this fourth and final day, early in the morning before breakfast, you’ll have the option to join a birdwatching excursion—this activity depends on weather conditions but offers a peaceful and rewarding start to the day.

After returning to the lodge, you’ll enjoy a rich breakfast before beginning your journey back. You’ll travel by canoe to the Cuyabeno Reserve Bridge, where your tour with us will come to an end.
