On arrival at Maun Airport and after clearing customs & immigration, you will be met by a Wilderness Safaris representative who will assist you with the arrangements of your scheduled light aircraft transfer to Duba Plains.
Duba Plains is perhaps the Okavango Delta's most remote camp. The camp is located in a private 30,000 hectare reserve in the furthermost reaches of the Delta on an island, surrounded by expansive seasonally flooded plains (dependant on annual flood waters) and shaded by tall ebony, fig and garcinia trees. This pristine area is home to lion, lechwe, elephant and huge herds of Buffalo, as well as a large variety of Okavango Delta bird life. Wattled cranes and slaty egrets are some of the Okavango specials to be found in the area. The camp is small and intimate, with accommodation limited to 6 comfortable tented rooms. Each of the tents has an en-suite bathroom, with hot and cold running water and a verandah overlooking the floodplain. The dining room and bar area is raised on decks and there is a great pool with a view. The camp focuses on the incredible wildlife in the area through game drives, which are conducted day and night in open 4 x 4 vehicles and motorboat excursions are conducted when water levels allow. Access is by aircraft only.

At a time to be advised by the camp management, you will be transferred from Duba Plains to the appropriate airstrip for your scheduled light aircraft transfer to Zarafa Camp.
Zarafa Camp, overlooking the Zibadianja Lagoon, evokes a sense of old-style safari with its four large, luxuriously appointed double or twin 'marquis style' tents. At a maximum of eight guests, the emphasis here is on individual hospitality and privacy. Each generous tent and veranda is positioned under cool and shady trees to emphasise the spectacular view and comprises a spacious bedroom, en-suite bathroom, a copper bath and shower as well as outdoor shower. The adjoining, comfortable lounge with its private pool rounds off our guest accommodation. A large shady veranda is standard as are overhead fans, flowing and seductive mosquito nets and a beautiful handcrafted copper fireplace, strategically placed between the bathroom and bedroom for the winter months.
The main area is furnished in the same 'campaign' style as the tents and evokes the traditional safari ambiance of the turn of the last century. Lounge and dining facilities may be enjoyed under canvas or on the full-length deck shaded by giant broad-leafed trees - overlooking the expansive view and the wildlife that passes by. The camp is perfect for those who favour a more intimate personal experience or those who prefer the entire camp for their own, exclusive use.
Activities at Zarafa are flexible to suit guests' particular interests and include morning, afternoon and night game drives with experienced professional guides in custom-built 4x4 Toyota Land Cruisers. Short guided nature walks from camp are encouraged, to introduce guests to some of Africa's less prominent wildlife and brunch or sundowner cruises on the HMS Zibadianja pontoon on the Zibadianja lagoon and down a channel from the Selinda Spillway.
All of the Chobe wildlife is present at Zarafa with a varied bird and mammal community. Abundant plains game can be found here including lechwe, kudu, buffalo, zebra and giraffe. It is also a predator-rich reserve including cheetah, wild dog, lion, and leopard. The massive herds of elephant are another highlight while a wide variety of birds - some 300 or more - can be seen.

There is no set routine at Zarafa. The camp is small enough to be flexible. However, from experience, we recommend that wildlife activities are conducted when the wildlife is most active. Generally they explore the reserve in the early morning, late afternoon and at night. The midday siesta time can be spent at one of Zarafa's waterholes in an elevated hide. However, Zarafa Camp is located in the heart of a brilliant wildlife area and often the best wildlife viewing at midday could be from your room!
Wildlife and nature drives are the primary activity and are conducted in open, 4x4 Toyota Landcruisers specifically adapted for these conditions. Walking is also encouraged and can either be a short walk from camp or as a full morning’s activity. Walks are led by licensed guides who are firearm experienced. A private vehicle and guide service is available, but this must be booked in advance to guarantee the service. Private vehicles and guides are on a first-come-first-served basis and are at extra cost.
