Welcome to Tanzania! Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met by our representative and you will be transferred to your overnight accommodation in Arusha, where you are booked in on a B&B basis . The rest of the day/evening is at your leisure to enjoy your peaceful surroundings and all that your hotel has to offer.

Airport Transfer
This morning, you will be met at your Arusha accommodation by your driver-guide and safari consultant for a quick safari briefing. After your briefing, you will head to Ngorongoro Coservation Area for your first game viewing of this safari. Upon arrival you will have a walk at the Empakai crater with an armed ranger who will escort you.
This hike explores the Empakaai Crater. With a lake on the Crater floor and the entire caldera encircled by a steep, densely forested wall, Empakaai is a scene of vast natural beauty. On clear days the Crater offers views of Ol Doinyo Lengai, Tanzania’s most recently active volcano. The steep slope calls for a degree of fitness, but the walk through the lush forest, with its ancient strangler figs and rich birdlife, is well worth the effort. The trail continues to the lakeshore, where you can view water birds such as flamingo and an extensive array of kaleidoscopic bird life.

Game Viewing
Today descend the 2,000 feet (over 600 meters) into the crater floor for a full-day safari with picnic lunch. The crater is the world’s largest intact caldera (collapsed volcano). Over 30,000 animals live within this enormous natural bowl, the most densely packed concentration of wildlife in Africa. Explore the forest areas inhabited by monkeys and elephants; the lake area, where you may see flamingos; and the open savanna, where the lions hunt for food. If you’re very lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of the elusive black rhino! Late afternoon, head back to your accommodation on the crater rim.

After breakfast, you will game drive your way to Ndutu in the western portion of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, bordering the Southern Serengeti. Here, with a bit of luck, you might be able to witness the Great Wildebeest Migration, which is usually in this area from December to March (though there is never any guarantee!). Picnic lunches will be taken along to maximize your game viewing time. Late afternoon/early evening, head to your lodge for relaxation and dinner. The evening is yours to enjoy
