Berlin Uncovered: Street Art, Stories & First Impressions

Upon arrival in Berlin, students will be welcomed by local staff and transferred by private coach into the city centre. After time to settle in and enjoy lunch, the group will begin discovering Germany's vibrant capital through a guided three-hour Street Art Tour led by an English-speaking local expert.

Exploring one of Berlin's famous Kieze (neighbourhoods), students will uncover how murals, graffiti, and public art reflect the city's unique identity, history, and spirit of creativity. This immersive walking experience offers an engaging introduction to Berlin while helping students become comfortable navigating a new city and adjusting to the local time zone.

The day concludes with a welcome dinner at a local restaurant, where students can relax, connect with fellow travellers, and begin building the friendships and shared experiences that will define the journey ahead.

From Walls to Freedom: Berlin's Remarkable Story

Today students embark on a guided exploration of Berlin's extraordinary history with an English-speaking local guide. Beginning along the famous Kurfürstendamm and at the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, students will examine how the city rebuilt itself after the devastation of the Second World War.

You will see the iconic Reichstag Building, Brandenburg Gate, and the famous central avenue of Berlin, Unter den Linden, Alexanderplatz, and the historic St. Nicholas Quarter.  These beautiful sites will help you appreciate the political, cultural, and social forces that have shaped modern Germany. At the Berlin Wall and Checkpoint Charlie, students will gain firsthand insight into the realities of a divided city and the impact of the Cold War on everyday life.

The day also includes time at the Holocaust Memorial and its exhibition, where students will engage thoughtfully with themes of remembrance, human rights, and the importance of learning from history. A guided visit to the Allied Museum further explores the post-war period and highlights the role of international cooperation during one of Europe's most significant eras of change.

With expert interpretation throughout the day, students are encouraged to think critically about democracy, citizenship, and the responsibilities of global citizens in today's world.

Palaces, Power & the Lessons of History: Discovering Potsdam

Today's excursion takes students to Potsdam, where some of the most important decisions of the twentieth century were discussed and debated.

The day begins with a guided visit to the House of the Wannsee Conference, where students will learn about the historical events surrounding the Holocaust and reflect on the importance of tolerance, inclusion, and civic responsibility. This powerful educational experience encourages thoughtful discussion and deeper understanding of the consequences of prejudice and discrimination.

Students will then continue with a guided exploration of Potsdam and the exterior of Cecilienhof Palace, the site of the Potsdam Conference in 1945. Here, students will discover how world leaders shaped the future of Europe following the Second World War and consider how these decisions continue to influence international relations today.

In the afternoon, students will enjoy a visit to the magnificent Sanssouci Palace and its UNESCO World Heritage gardens. Using audio-guides, they will explore the palace and grounds while learning about Prussian history, architecture, and royal life. The beautiful setting provides a welcome opportunity to enjoy outdoor spaces and appreciate the cultural heritage of Germany.

Return to Berlin to enjoy a group dinner at a local restaurant.

Castles, Creativity & New Horizons: From Dresden to Prague

Buffet breakfast at the hotel followed by check-out.

Today the journey continues south toward Prague, with a stop in the historic city of Dresden. During a guided city tour led by a local English-speaking guide, students will explore a city that has become a symbol of resilience and renewal.

Once the capital of Saxony, Dresden is renowned for its contributions to art, architecture, and science. Students will discover how the city rebuilt itself following wartime destruction while preserving its cultural treasures for future generations.

Continue by private coach to visit the Terezin Concentration Camp Memorial. 

Later, the group arrives in Prague, one of Europe's most beautiful and best-preserved historic capitals. After checking into the hotel, students will enjoy dinner together and begin experiencing the unique atmosphere of this remarkable city, whose centuries-old streets seem to transport visitors back in time.

Towers, Timekeepers & Stars: Exploring Magical Prague

Today students explore Prague's rich history and stunning architecture through a guided visit of Prague Castle and its palace complex. With the assistance of a local guide, students will visit St. Vitus Cathedral, the Royal Palace, St. George's Basilica, and Golden Lane while learning about the kings, emperors, and leaders who shaped Czech history.

The adventure continues through Prague's picturesque streets and across the iconic Charles Bridge before heading toward Petřín Hill.  As a group we will walk up the hill from the base near Újezd Street to get to top.  It's a moderately steep, scenic 15 to 30-minute hike.  The climb offers students the opportunity to enjoy fresh air, physical activity, and spectacular views overlooking the city.

At the summit, students will explore the Petřín Lookout Tower and the famous Mirror Maze before participating in an observatory presentation that brings astronomy and space science to life through an engaging exploration of our solar system.

In the evening, students will attend a Black Light Theatre performance (subject to availability) one of Prague's most distinctive cultural traditions. Combining visual illusion, storytelling, music, and creativity, this unique experience is often a highlight of the tour and provides students with a memorable introduction to Czech performing arts.

Hidden Stories & Hands-On Discoveries

This morning, students continue their exploration of Prague with an English-speaking guide through the Old Town, Jewish Quarter, and New Town. As they walk through centuries of history, students will gain a deeper appreciation for Prague's diverse cultural heritage and the contributions of its Jewish community.

The afternoon provides opportunities for hands-on cultural learning and exploration.

You will enjoy a fun, hands-on cooking class where you learn to prepare a traditional, iconic Prague pastry, a Chimney Cake.

The balanced pace of the day allows students to reflect on their experiences, strengthen friendships, and continue developing the confidence and independence that come from international travel.

Imperial Vienna: Waltzes, Palaces & Grand Boulevards

Breakfast at the hotel followed by check-out.

Today students travel to Vienna, a city celebrated for its music, architecture, and imperial history. During a four-hour guided city tour, students will see many of Vienna's most iconic landmarks, including St. Stephen's Cathedral, the Graben, Parliament, City Hall, and the Hofburg Palace.

As they explore the elegant streets of Austria's capital, students will discover how Vienna became one of Europe's great cultural centres and home to influential artists, composers, and political leaders.

A highlight of the day is a traditional Austrian Waltz workshop. During this interactive lesson, students will learn the basic steps of one of the world's most famous ballroom dances while experiencing an authentic aspect of Austrian culture. The activity encourages teamwork, confidence, and plenty of laughter, making it a favourite experience for many student groups.

The day concludes with dinner and time to settle into the hotel before the final full day of the tour.

The Sound of Vienna: Mozart, Chocolate & Celebration

The final full day begins with a visit to the magnificent Schönbrunn Palace. Using audio-guides, students will explore the grand state rooms and gain insight into the lives of the Habsburg rulers who once governed much of Central Europe.

Students then visit Mozart House Vienna, where audio-guides bring to life the story of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the creative environment that inspired some of his greatest works. This visit offers a fascinating connection between place, history, and artistic achievement.

In the afternoon, students participate in a hands-on Mozartkugeln workshop, learning how to create one of Austria's most famous treats. Working together, students experience local traditions while enjoying a fun and interactive cultural activity.

The journey concludes with a special farewell dinner at a traditional Viennese Heurigen restaurant. As students reflect on the friendships formed, the places explored, and the lessons learned, they celebrate an unforgettable experience that combines history, culture, personal growth, and adventure.

Homeward Bound: Bringing Memories of a Lifetime Back with Us

After breakfast, students check out of the hotel and transfer by private coach to Vienna International Airport for their return flight to Toronto.

As they journey home, students carry with them far more than photographs and souvenirs. Through guided visits, immersive cultural experiences, meaningful historical learning, and shared adventures with classmates, they return with new perspectives, increased independence, and memories that will last a lifetime.
