Mindo Highlights - Regular

Transfer to Mindo, Chocolate factory - Our driver will pick you up at your hotel in Quito for your transfer north to the town of Mindo amidst beautiful cloudforest. We will pass by the Middle of the World equator line first and visit the Inti Ñan museum where you are able to perform fascinating scientific tests which only hold true at the equator such as balancing an egg on a nail and witnessing the coriolis force that send falling water in different directions in each hemisphere. In the afternoon, you will see how chocolate is made from harvesting the native cocoa plant, fermenting, drying, roasting and grinding and of course the crucial moment of tasting is not forgotten!.

Mindo Nature - Today we start with a beautiful walk to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the cloudforest. If lucky we have the chance to see hummingbirds, but your guide will also point out orchids and other fauna typical to the cloudforest. The end of the trek arrives to a series of waterfalls where you can enjoy a picnic (bring your own food, or you can eat at a restaurant back in town if you prefer). There are small pools where you can enjoy a swim if you wish. In the afternoon we visit the Butterfly farm and admire some of the rarest and most colourful Orchids. You could end the day with a relaxing visit to the Hummingbird Café.

Canopy, Tupile ruins and return to Quito - After breakfast you will experience the exhilarating canopy tour for approximately 2 hours. You will fly safely through the upper canopy of the cloudforest and enjoy excellent views! After the canopy adventure you can visit the fascinating Tulipe archaeological site where you can learn about the mythical-religious cosmo-vision of the Yambo culture, finally our driver will transfer you back to Quito where your tour ends.
