Days 1 - 2: Entebbe

In the morning, depart for Mabamba Swamp. Here, you’ll travel via boat through the papyrus-lined channels in search of the region’s spectacular bird life. Mabamba has been recognized by worldwide conservation and birding organizations as a critical ecological site. Beloved by birders and wildlife photographers alike, the wetlands are an incredible opportunity to see the region's bird life.

Afterwards, enjoy lunch, followed by a visit to Ngamba Island, setting out at 1pm. A boat trip from the dock in Entebbe takes you to the island's shores, where you'll learn about the rehabilitated chimpanzees at the sanctuary and have the chance to watch their feeding from the viewing platform. These playful, inquisitive animals share 98% of their DNA with humans and are fascinating to watch as they play, feed, and care for each other. Return to the mainland around 6pm, transferring to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Days 3 - 4: Kibale Forest National Park

  • Transfer from The Boma to Entebbe Airport
  • Scheduled Flight Entebbe - Kasese
  • Stay at Primate Lodge in a Cottage for 2 nights
  • Kibale Forest Chimp Tour and Guided Walk at Bigodi Swamp (on Day 4 )
  • Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner included

Morning transfer with picnic lunch to Kibale Forest National Park for chimp trekking. Afterwards, set out on a guided nature walk in the Bigodi Wetlands. Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Days 5 - 6: Southern Queen Elizabeth National Park

  • Travel overland from Primate Lodge to Queen Elizabeth National Park (± 3 hours)
  • Stay at Elephant Plains Lodge in a Cottage for 2 nights
  • Morning Game Drive in Queen Elizabeth Park followed by an afternoon Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise ( 2 hours) (on Day 6)
  • Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner included

Day 7: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

  • Travel overland with game drive in the Ishasha Sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park to Bwindi Forest (± 3 hours)
  • Stay at Bwindi Lodge in a Standard Banda for 2 nights.

Day 8: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

Gorilla Trek 

Experience the adventure of tracking the famed mountain gorilla in the place that is home to half of the world’s total mountain gorilla population. While trekking through the dense forest you’ll have the opportunity to view the mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. Looking deep into the expressive brown eyes of the gentle giants of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park surely is the most exciting and poignant wildlife encounter that Africa has to offer. After this captivating and unforgettable experience, you will head back to your Uganda safari lodge, freshen up ready for dinner.

Days 9 - 10: Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

  • Travel overland from Bwindi to Mgahinga (±5 hours)
  • Stay at Mount Gahinga Lodge in a Standard Room for 2 nights
  • Golden Monkey Trek (on Day 10) or opt for a second Gorilla Trek ($800 additional cost per person for gorilla permit)
  • Batwa Heritage Experience

Golden Monkey Trek: Complete the registration process at the Park Offices and after your briefing, enter the forest in search of the monkeys. Monkeys are among the most endangered primates in Africa and is believed the only viable population of these monkeys is in the Virunga Volcanoes. The golden monkey is a distinct species of guenon - Cercopithecus Kandti and is endemic to the Albertine Rift.

In the afternoon, set out on a cultural visit with the local Batwa tribe.

Day 11: End of Itinerary
