Day 7: Lake Magadi

Mon. 9 Feb 2026

Today we make our way towards Karatu and Ngorongoro Crater.

On the way, we will have a chance to visit Mto Wa Mbu and a wonderful Cultural Experience (please also see attached the document on Lemala's sustainability & eco-tourism efforts and accomplishments).

LOCAL MATTERS Wherever possible, food and supplies are sourced locally to ensure the surrounding communities feel the benefits of tourism on a commercial level. Lemala sponsored a social enterprise opportunity for a local Tanzanian in Mto wa Mbu and he now employs 32 stay at home mums to make our 100% biodegradable lunch boxes as well as our presentation boxes for stationary and our gift shop boxes. He has also purchased tuk tuks and conducts our cultural experiences in the area and supports families further by including a local lunch prepared by the families for our guests, as well has providing free training to young woman from disadvantaged backgrounds to be guides on these excursions.

Upon arrival at the very new and spectacular Lemala Osonjoi Lodge!

The world’s largest intact volcanic caldera, the Ngorongoro Crater and its surrounding highlands are universally recognized as some of the best, most reliable wildlife areas on the continent.

Lemala Osonjoi is conveniently located close to the Lemala Gate – a more gradual access road with game viewing en route.

The eastern quadrant of the Ngorongoro Crater sees fewer visitors than the west, especially first thing in the morning and last thing in the afternoon – those critical hours when game viewing is at its best.

Day 8: Lake Magadi

Tue. 10 Feb 2026

Today will be a full day in the impressive Ngorongoro Crater.  The lovely Lemala staff will provide us with a fantastic picnic in the crater during our full day safari.

Activities and Services

Day 9: Ndutu

Wed. 11 Feb 2026

Today after breakfast, we will travel to Ndutu area to stay at a mobile tented camp which locates itself in the best wildlife viewing areas.

Lemala Ndutu is geared up to be able to provide full-service bush breakfasts, lunches and evening sundowners. Our guests tell us that there is something magical about rounding a corner on a track and finding a sumptuous meal spread out waiting for them, particularly when the meal has been arranged as a surprise!

At the beginning of the month, many herds are still in the Ndutu area of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and the southern Serengeti plains, and though January and February are technically the calving season months, it often continues well into March.   This area will also have cats including lion, leopard, cheetah, civet, serval, wild cat and caracal. The resident predators are territorial and so once they have had their young they remain at Ndutu in the local marsh areas which stay wet all year round and are an essential fresh water source for the herbivores therefore attracting predators.  The marshes also serve as the ideal place for cheetah and lion to hide their offspring from danger.

Day 10: Ndutu

Thu. 12 Feb 2026

Today we will have a full day of safari complete with bush breakfasts, lunch back at your camp, and sundowners while finishing your safari day.

Day 12: Central Serengeti

Sat. 14 Feb 2026

Today we will make our way over to Seronera Valley - one of the most popular areas of the Serengeti National Park and is the favorite destination of those who want to see the big cats; there is indeed one of the highest concentration of the entire African continent and they can be spotted all year round.

On a safari excursion, it is quite common to spot all the big cats, such as lions, leopards, cheetahs and hyenas, and as well small cats such as mongooses, servals, caracals, bat-eared foxes and jackals.

Several perennial rivers enable resident animals to thrive all year round and where, in the dry season, animals get together in search of water, this attracts the largest population of predators and offers visitors exceptional opportunities for viewing hunting.

Rivers are lined up with tall trees, especially the sausage trees, on whose branches leopards can be spotted engaged to eat a prey or simply resting with their legs dangling from the shadowy branches, with a dreamy expression.

Cheetahs can also be seen here, striding through the shifting grasses or scouting a distant prey from an abandoned termite mound or on top of a stone.

We will end up at Lemala's wonderful Ewanjan Tented Camp.

Day 13: Central Serengeti

Sun. 15 Feb 2026

Game drives in Seronera area.

The Seronera region is an important wildlife transition zone between the southern grasslands and the northern woodlands and is renowned for its year-round game viewing due to its abundance of water in the many rivers, as well as for its large populations of resident big cats.
