Starting in Miraflores, we will admire the stunning bay of Lima while indulging in the famous "Ceviche", an award-winning seafood dish that Peruvians love. Continuing our exploration of Peru's gastronomy, we will sample the main courses such as "Causa peruana" in local places that offer a unique and picturesque experience. The tour will then lead you to a third stop, where you can try the famous "Lomo Saltado" or other Peruvian delicacies that cater to your preference. And of course, we won't forget dessert. You'll have the choice of indulging in either homemade ice cream or delicious "picarones" (sweet potatoes, pumpkin, clove, and cinnamon) to conclude your culinary journey.

Day 4: Cusco

Known as the Temple of the Sun, your first stop today is to Koricancha where the Sun was worshipped during Inca times. Continue on your tour as you visit one of the most splendid Spanish colonial churches in the Americas; Cusco Cathedral. Located on the main square, it houses about 400 colonial painting from the Cusco art school, impressive gold, silver and precious stone works. You will then head to the Sacsayhuamán fortress, an emblematic work of the Incas, which protected the Holy City. Sacsayhuamán was built with megalithic blocks, which transportation and construction continue to be a mystery.

Day 5: The Sacred Valley of the Incas

Cusco - Sacred Valley

Private  full day excursion & transfer to the Sacred Valley including lunch
After being collected from your hotel, your first stop of the day will be at a farm specialising in the rearing of South American Camelids. The farm near Awanakancha is home to a textile showroom and here locals will demonstrate the entire traditional process of weaving. Next you will visit Pisac market, here you can find an intriguing mix of local produce, including carvings, textiles and replicas of old Inca pieces. Pisac is also where you will stop for lunch, which can be enjoyed at a local restaurant. In the afternoon you will continue on to Ollantaytambo to explore the town whose residents still live in accordance with their old traditions. Ollantaytambo shows a huge archaeological complex that, without a doubt is one of the most monumental works of the Inca Empire. Although it bears the name of fortress, it was actually a ‘tambo’, a leisure place used to accommodate the delegations that travelled long distances.


After your excursion you will be transferred onto your hotel for a 2 nights stay on B&B basis.

Day 6: The Sacred Valley of the Incas

Private full day Via Ferrata tour (Not for the Faint Hearted)

Vía Ferrata road is located at 300 metres above the Sacred River of the Incas and boasts truly impressive views. Climbing the vertical rock walls surrounded by the stunning scenery of the Sacred Valley is an unrivalled sensation. Previous experience is not required to enjoy this adventure, since the safety rope system is permanently installed all along the route. Once the ascent has been completed there will be time to enjoy an energizing snack at the top of the wall. You will then rappel down the 100m descent. You will be transferred back to your hotel at the end of the tour.

Day 7: The Sacred Valley of the Incas

SACRED VALLEY - INCA TRAIL

Today’s hike: Piscacucho - Wayllabamba
5-6 hrs / 7.7 miles

After an early rise you will be collected from your hotel in Cusco for a shared transfer to Piscacucho, which is the start point of the Inca Trail. There will a 15 – 20 min stop at Ollantaytambo. Once you reach Piscacucho, your hike will begin. You will hike for around 6hrs to Wayllabamba where you will make camp for the night.

Luggage Transfer from Sacred Valley to Cusco:Any excess luggage not being taken to Machu Picchu will be transferred from your hotel in the Sacred Valley to your hotel in Cusco, where it will be safely stored until your return from Machu Picchu.

Day 8: The Sacred Valley of the Incas

Today’s hike: Wayllabamba - Pacaymayo6-7 hrs / 7.2 miles

After having breakfast you will break camp and begin the most difficult part of the trek. It consists of an abrupt and steep ascent toward the highest pass on the trail known as Dead Woman's Pass (4,200m/13,776ft). Then you will begin the descent to your second campsite in Pacaymayo, where you will have lunch and dinner.

 

Day 9: Machu Picchu

Today’s hike: Pacaymayo - Wiñayhuayna
8-9 hrs / 10 miles

The third day is the longest one, but also the most impressive and the most interesting, due the number of archaeological sites and the lush cloud forest area that you will cross.

From Pacaymayo you climb to Runquracay Pass, and then descend to your lunch stop at Chaquicocha. After lunch you will continue up an easy climb until you reach Phuyupatamarca Pass (3,700m/12,073ft), walk on through the cloud forest and the Inca site of Intipata finally reaching your third and final campsite at Wiñayhuayna (8,792ft). 

Day 10: Machu Picchu Pueblo

WIÑAYHUAYNA – MACHU PICCHU - AGUAS CALIENTES

After a particularly early breakfast, you will depart the campsite around 05:30 in order to arrive to Inti Punku (Sun Gate) before sunrise. From here, you will experience your first extraordinary view of Machu Picchu at dawn. Walk on to this iconic ancient city, where your guide will lead a 2 hour tour, and then enjoy some time to explore on your own.

After visiting Machu Picchu you will take the bus to Aguas Calientes and your hotel. Stay 1 night on half board basis.

Day 11: Cusco

AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHU PICCHU - CUSCO

Meet the bus back up to Machu Picchu citadel.

Half day un-guided re-entry to Machu Picchu & Huayna Picchu

This morning you will be able to spend more time exploring Machu Picchu citadel, this time unguided. Rise early as arriving at dawn means that if the sky is clear you will be able to witness an amazing sunrise. You will also be able to climb the peak of Huayna Picchu where you can enjoy spectacular views looking down on the site and the surrounding Andean Peaks.

Machu Picchu & Huayna Picchu Tour Regulations:

- Your ticket from yesterday’s entrance to Machu Picchu will need to be shown along with your re-entry ticket. -

There are two entrance times for Huayna Picchu, 07:00 – 08:00 and 10:00 – 11:00. - You will have up to 3 hours to trek to Huayna Picchu plus 4 hours to explore Machu Picchu.

Once you are ready make your way to the bus stop to meet the bus back into Aguas Calientes. Here you will need to make the short walk to the train station to meet your train to Cusco.

Shared transfer to your hotel on arrival for 1 night.

Day 12: Puerto Maldonado

On arrival at the airport in Puerto Maldonado you will be met and transferred to the harbour where you board your motorized canoe to take you into the rainforest to the Hacienda Concepción.
