Day 1: Johannesburg

You will be met airside at ORT and assisted through Immigration and Customs. Your Specialist guide, Sid Hayes, will be waiting for you in the arrivals hall where he will take you  across to the ORT Intercontinental Hotel for check in and overnight.

A much needed breather after your long flight and a chance to relax, unwind and catch up on the hours and sleep lost with your transatlantic flight. 

Your Safari begins the minute you change your watches to Africa Time.

A quiet evening before your flight to Maun the next morning.

 

Days 2 - 5: Mombo Concession

Sat. 18 Sep 2021 - Tue. 21 Sep 2021

This morning after a good nights sleep and a hearty breakfast,  you will be met once again and chaperoned to the regional flights section of  ORT.  A scheduled commercial flight taking 90 minutes out of ORT Johannesburg will have you arriving in Maun, Botswana.  You may be interested to know that this little  airport is the busiest light aircraft airport in Africa!

The cost of the commercial flight from Johannesburg to Maun is  Approximately $850.00 per person return.  This is an estimate and the fare  HAS NOT been included in the costing but we certainly book it for you should you wish.

Following customs and immigration, your pilot  will meet and assist you for your private charter flight out of Maun, over the Delta  to Mombo Airstrip, greeted with a much needed welcome drink and  a game drive transfer  to Mombo Private Reserve on Chiefs Island  - home for the next four nights.  

 

Days 6 - 9: Duba Plains Private Reserve

Fond farewells and check out for Part Two!  A short charter flight out of Mombo Airstrip to Odop  Airstrip and a short transfer onward to Duba Plains  Camp

 

Check in to another luxurious tent that you can lay your hat, unpack your toothbrush and get to call home.

Days 10 - 13: Selinda Reserve

A complimentary helicopter transfer will have you at Zarafa Camp for Part Three  of your Safari.

Zarafa means “the beloved one” in Arabic and comes from a giraffe that was presented to Charles X of France in 1826 by the Viceroy of Egypt.  

Located on the private 130,000 hectare Selinda Reserve, at the world famous source of the Savuti at Zibadjana lagoon, this camp has been named one of the greatest game viewing regions in southern Africa.

Check into your luxurious tented accommodation for the next 4 days.

Day 14: End of Itinerary

Time to pack away the camera, dust off your hat and shoes.  a sad "tsamaya sentle'  to the Zarafa staff and  charter out of paradise to Maun airport for onward travel to civilization.

Here you will bid farewell to Sid   as he heads back up north to regale his family with stories of his safari with you all.

Maun to ORT Johannesburg for your longhaul flight that connects you back home.  You will be met airside, assisted and escorted to the International terminal.

The next few weeks thereafter will be spent downloading hundreds of  photographs and sharing your stories with your friends and family.

 There is an option on a pre-safari or post -safari trip to the Majestic Victoria Falls for a few nights  - if you have come all this way it would be a crime not to see one of  the most amazing  Seven  Wonders of the World!!  An ideal trip would be 2 or 3  nights at the beginning of the safari which will also afford you to deal with your jetlag and prepare for your safari.  Victoria Falls is Sid's home and base, so you will get to meet his family and he will then continue on his trip with you from there!!   This cost is NOT included in this safari package, it will be an extra cost on request.
