You will stay here for three nights. After lunch and some time to enjoy the camp’s facilities, you have an afternoon game drive returning to the camp in the late afternoon for dinner and overnight.

Nomad Tanzania's Serengeti Safari Camp was the first of it’s kind. It was designed with a purpose in mind; to be in the best possible location to view the wildebeest migration as it covers hundreds of miles of the Serengeti National Park each year. So it should come as no surprise that it really hasn't changed much since it's early pioneering days.

The wildebeest move and this is what our Serengeti Safari Camp is all about - understanding the Serengeti seasons and game movements and mirroring them.

Each year, this little camp casts off from Lamai Serengeti and begins its own odyssey. Covering hundreds of miles and moving every couple of months (not during your stay) along a route that the herds have travelled for hundreds of years, Serengeti Safari Camp is where you come for your migration fix.

Since the days in the early 90s when this little camp started, it's been much copied, but never equalled.  It is effortlessly comfortable - a home from home, where you want for nothing. But it's never been about luxury for its own sake. From the outset the focus has been clear. To deliver a superlative experience of the extraordinary wildlife in this part of the world without damaging the environment that has so inspired us over the years.

This is why Nomad have always worked with the best guides and always kept their camps small, intimate and simple

Game drives in search of the migration

The priority from Serengeti Safari Camp is usually to find the Great Migration. You'll set off early morning in a shared vehicle with one of our exceptional Nomad guides in search of the herds, and the plethora of other wildlife that call the Serengeti home. Depending on what everyone in your group fancies doing for the day, you'll either return for lunch in camp, before heading out again in the afternoon. Or, you may all decide to take a picnic lunch with you and spend the whole day exploring the Serengeti.

We always recommend that you consider a private car and guide so there are no limits to your game viewing – as you wont be sharing the vehicle with anyone else, you’ll be able to indulge your own interests…without having to endure other peoples.

all meals, house drinks, laundry and shared 4x4 game drives.

Day 7: Northern Serengeti

Continue to Lamai Serengeti Lodge where you will stay for two nights. Arrive in time for lunch. After some time to enjoy the camp’s facilities, you have an afternoon game drive returning to the camp in the late afternoon for dinner and overnight.

Lamai Serengeti sits tucked amongst the rocks of Kogakuria Kopje with panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, only a few miles from where the wildebeest cross the Mara River.  For roughly a quarter of the year, between late July and October, this is where you'll find the migration.   Right here, on our doorstep.  For the rest of the year, it is wild Serengeti with all the resident game of the Masai Mara but without the people.

Each of the rooms is designed to fit into the complex geometry of the kopje and to make the most of this sensational location,  its views and its natural space and light.  The rooms are a blend of canvas, plaster and natural poles.

Day 8: Northern Serengeti

Game drives

Explore the Northern Serengeti with our fabulous and very experienced guides. Game drives allow you to get closer to the big game and cover greater distances so that you can explore further afield in this beautiful part of the Serengeti.

**Game drives are on a shared basis unless a private guide and vehicle have been pre-booked. Max six in a vehicle.

Walking safaris

Walking safaris are available at Lamai in certain seasons. At times of year when the grass can be a bit higher walking is sometimes not possible so it is important to bear this in mind (typically between January - March and June).

Walking in the bush is a fantastic experience and one of our favourite safari pastimes. It gives you the chance to really learn about the intricacies of the African bush; to taste, touch, smell and feel Africa. You don't get as up close and personal to the big game, but you do meet the little guys, all equally important in the grand scheme of things.
