The transfer from São Luís to Barreirinhas (approx. 265 km / 4 hours), the gateway to the Lençóis National Park, takes place early in the morning. Upon arrival in Barreirinhas, take a "Voadeiras" speedboat to Pequenos Lençóis to sail along the Preguiça River towards the sea. The first stop will be in the Vassouras region to visit the Pequeno Lençóis Maranhenses and learn about the local fauna in the "monkey tent". The second stop will be in the village of Mandacarú, a small fishing community, to climb the Preguiça lighthouse and enjoy a beautiful view of Lençóis. You can see where the river meets the Atlantic Ocean and where the vast native forest surrounds the rivers. The race ends at Caburé Beach. Here you can have lunch and swim in the river or the sea. Next you will drive to the village of Atins in the middle of the wilderness of the Lençóis National Park, where you will start your trekking tour through the desert. At around 3:00 pm you will start the three-hour hike near the village. You will see lagoons, desert places and much more in the Pequeno Lençóis Maranhenses to the terminus "Canto de Atins", where you will experience the magical sunset over the golden sand dunes. Then return to the "Casa de Pescadores" camp, run by local families. Now you have free time. In the evening you can explore the village on your own on foot or by donkey. Authentic dinner with the local family is included. Overnight in a hammock in the middle of the dune desert.

Atins - Baixa Grande - crossing the desert (24 km, about 8h of trekking)
After breakfast at around 4am, you will continue your journey in a four-wheel drive vehicle to today's "Rio Negro" starting point of the trek. The day starts very early to avoid the intense sun and hot afternoon temperatures in the desert. The hike takes you through the beautiful national park to Baixa Grande village in eight hours. The sun welcomes you around 6 in the morning and accompanies you throughout the day. Around noon you will reach the Baixa Grande desert oasis, where you can enjoy a simple lunch with a local family. Spend the night in hammocks at a local family's camp. Breakfast and dinner with the family are included.
Baixa Grande - Queimada dos Britos (12 km, about 4 hours of trekking)
At 6:00 am after breakfast we start again very early with the trekking tour through the dune landscape to the oasis Queimada dos Britos, where we also visit the Grandes Lençóis Maranhenses National Park. Embark on an approximately 4-hour hike to the most beautiful lagoons (Lagoa Azul, Lagoa do Peixe or Lagoa Bonita). You can expect an unreal and exciting landscape with dunes and stunning lagoons that arise in the rainy season. Reach the village of Queimada dos Britos around 11:00 and have lunch with a local family. Free time in the afternoon. You can relax, sleep in the hammock or just let your mind wander in the desert. Overnight in a hammock in the camp. Breakfast and dinner are included.
Queimada dos Britos - Santo Amaro - São Luis (20 km, about 7 hours of trekking)
Around 4 in the morning the day starts again very early in order to fully enjoy the last day of the trekking expedition. After breakfast, the route takes you in about 7 hours to the village of Santo Amaro, where you can visit the beautiful crystal clear lagoons "Lagoa Gaivota" and "Lagoa da Andorinha" and take a refreshing swim. In Santo Amaro it is possible to have lunch (not included) and take a short walk around the town. In the late afternoon you will continue your drive to São Luis.
