Day 1: Lima

Day 2: Lima

Private half day city tour with Larco Herrera Museum visit Taking in the highlights of the city, you will visit the Main Square where Lima was first founded. Flanked by the Presidential Palace, the Archbishop’s Palace and Lima Cathedral this is the ideal place to begin your exploration of the city. From here you will continue on to visit the Aliaga House, Saint Francis’ Church and the Larco Museum. Located in the Pueblo Libre district, the museum is found inside a viceregal mansion and is home to the most complete pre-Hispanic collection of gold and silver artifacts.

Day 3: Puerto Maldonado

Private transfer to the airport (approx. 40-mins) to meet your onward flight with LATAM.

On arrival at the airport in Puerto Maldonado you will be met and transferred to the harbour (approx. 10- mins) where you board your motorized canoe to take you deep into the rainforest to the Inkaterra Reserva Amazónica Lodge (approx. 45-mins).

Days 4 - 5: Puerto Maldonado

A typical day at Reserva Amazonica starts with an early breakfast at 05:00 for those who want to avoid the heat and maximize nature encounters. Full buffet breakfast is served from 07:00 to 09:00. Most excursions will leave the lodge at 08:00 and return at 11:30. Lunch and siesta are scheduled from 12:00 to 15:00. At 15:30 it is time for afternoon tea and to prepare for two to three hour long early evening excursions. At sunset, the lodge offers a nature presentation and cocktails after which Dinner is served from 19:30 to 20:00. After dinner you can retire early or hear rain forest tales while listening to the entrancing sounds of the jungle. There is a wide range of complimentary activities available from the Lodge. All excursions will be led by expert bilingual Interpreters. There are also a few additional excursions, which are bookable and payable locally. The duration of excursions varies meaning you will be able to choose from a range of quarter, half and full day activities. The activities are classified in three difficulty levels: Easy, Moderate or Difficult to help you to shape your itinerary to suit your individual needs. On arrival your guide will help you to select a programme that will
meet your requirements and the weather conditions at the time.

Day 6: The Sacred Valley of the Incas

After breakfast, shared road and boat transfer to Puerto Maldonado airport (approx. 1-hour) to meet your flight to Cusco.

Day 7: The Sacred Valley of the Incas

Private full day excursion in the Sacred Valley (inc. lunch) After being collected from your hotel, you will visit Pisac market, here you can find an intriguing mix of localproduce, including carvings, textiles and replicas of old Inca pieces. Pisac is also where you will stop for lunch, which can be enjoyed at a local restaurant. In the afternoon you will continue on to Ollantaytambo to explore the town whose residents still live in accordance with their old traditions. Ollantaytambo shows a huge archaeological complex that, without a doubt is one of the most monumental works of the Inca Empire. Although it bears the name of fortress, it was actually a ‘tambo’, a leisure place used to accommodate the delegations that travelled long distances.

Days 8 - 9: The Sacred Valley of the Incas

For those seeking to fill their day at leisure with adventure, the Sacred Valley’s natural characteristics make it ideal for practising a wide range of adventure sports. These include horse riding, hiking, kayaking, tandem paragliding, mountain biking and much more.

Day 10: Machu Picchu

Transfer to the station. Your tour to Machu Picchu begins with a train ride to Aguas Calientes.

Named after the explorer who discovered Machu Picchu in 1911, the Hiram Bingham is a luxury train operated by Belmond. It consists of two dining cars, an observation bar car and a kitchen car and seats up to 84 passengers. The Hiram Bingham is the most stylish way to travel to and from the ruins from Cusco. Its carriages are painted a distinctive blue and gold and the interiors are elegantly decorated in the style of the 1920's Pullman trains. (Operates every day except Sunday).

Private afternoon tour of Machu Picchu Upon arrival at the site enjoy a private three-hour guided tour of this magnificent and mysterious Inca citadel. Arriving in the afternoon you will be able to enjoy the site without the crowds. Your guide will explain the three different route options for your tour and together you will decide which route to take. There is no need to pre-book a particular route. During your tour the guide will explain everything currently known about the site and the history of the Incas.

Day 11: Machu Picchu

Half day un-guided re-entry to Machu Picchu & Huayna Picchu (inc. permits) Walk from your hotel to the entrance to the citadel. This morning you will be able to spend more time exploring Machu Picchu citadel, this time unguided. Rise early as arriving at dawn means that if the sky is clear you will be able to witness an amazing sunrise. You will also be able to climb the peak of Huayna Picchu where you can enjoy spectacular views looking down on the site and the surrounding Andean Peaks.

After your tour you will have the afternoon at leisure.

Day 12: Cusco

Morning at leisure. Take the Belmond minivan transfer to the train station to board your train.

Day 13: Cusco

Private half day city tour including nearby Inca sites Known as the Temple of the Sun, your first stop today is to Koricancha where the Sun was worshipped during Inca times. Continue on your tour as you visit one of the most splendid Spanish colonial churches in the
Americas; Cusco Cathedral. Located on the main square, it houses about 400 colonial painting from the Cusco art school, impressive gold, silver and precious stone works. You will then head to the Sacsayhuamán fortress, an emblematic work of the Incas, which protected the Holy City. Sacsayhuamán was built with megalithic blocks, which transportation and construction continue to be a mystery.

Day 14: Andean Explorer, A Belmond Train, Peru

2-day / 1-night ‘Spirit of the Water Train’ from Cusco to Puno
Private transfer to the train station (approx. 10-mins).

One of the highest train journeys in the World, the Belmond Andean Explorer takes you on an exploration of ancient kingdoms to natural wonders, which can be enjoyed from sunrise to sunset and all through the night. The recently renovated Belmond Andean Explorer Train is South America’s first luxury overnight sleeper train. On board you will be able to travel effortlessly through the stunning Andean countryside whilst staff tend to your every need. The train is made up of two dining cars, an observation car, lounge car and three sleeper cars. The train comfortably accommodates up to 68 passengers in its 34 luxury cabins. Your train will depart Cusco at 11:00 giving you time to settle into your cabin and relax before lunch is served in one of the two opulent dining cars. At 14:00 you will disembark the train for your first shared excursion.

Afternoon excursion to Raqchi About an hour from Cusco, this archaeological site is far less visited than other more well-known sites but still incredibly impressive. The Inca site is home to numerous buildings, the most prominent being the Temple of Wiracocha. It is believed this two story structure was originally built as a control point on the main road system that joined Cusco to other parts of the Inca Empire. The enormous structure stands over 92 metre long and here you can see parts of the original roof and windows. The site of Raqchi is huge, said to be one the biggest Inca archaeological sites ever. There are 12 living quarters attached to the temple. These were thought to belong to administrative and religious persons. The area to the west of the temple you can find ceremonial baths similar to those found on other sites. The complex also holds a large number of storehouses, approximately 150.

Return to the train for 15:30 when afternoon tea will be served.

Sunset at La Raya La Raya is the line dividing the regions of Cusco and Puno. At 4335 metres above sea level it provides beautiful views of the Andes rising high above alpaca farms. It is here that you will witness the sunset on your first day of your Peruvian Highland adventure. The perfect opportunity for all photographers!


Return to the train in time for some lovely cocktails followed by dinner. At around 22:15 you will arrive into Lake Titicaca station.

Day 15: Lake Titicaca

Rise early to see the sunrise over Lake Titicaca, breakfast will be served between 06:00 – 08:00.
Disembark at Puno station where a private transfer will take you to your next hotel (approx 1-hour).

The rest of the day you can choose from a wide variety of activities or excursions from your hotel, including:
cycling, sailing, kayaking, rafting through the reeds, birdwatching, trekking, and visiting local markets, temples or the Inca site of Sillustani

Day 16: Lake Titicaca

08:00 - Shared full day excursion to Uros & Taquile Islands
Your guide will take you by boat to visit the legendary islands of Uros and meet one of traditional families that live there. The Uros Floating Islands are located near the protected National Reserve of Titicaca. The people of Uros are a proud culture who due to persecution by other groups found refuge by living on manmade islands many years ago. They call themselves kotsuña or people of the lake who claim to have black blood, as
they are immune to the cold and consider themselves to be owners of the lake and its waters. Learn about their history, uses for totora reeds and customs after exploring one of these impressive islands. You will then visit Taquile island where you will see and learn about the finely detailed textiles that are unique to the area, which have recently been protected by UNESCO. You will enjoy lunch outdoors with fantastic views of the lake and Bolivia’s Cordillera Real in the distance. Afterwards you will return to your hotel by boat.

Day 18: Yanque

This morning you will take a private transfer to the Colca Canyon and your next hotel (approx. 6-hours).
This scenic transfer goes via Patahuasi and is a magical route through high plains, stone forests and sky blue lagoons populated by cranes that dry their wings in the icy winds.

Spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 19: Yanque

Private full day excursion in Colca Canyon (inc. lunch)
Today you will go to Condor Cross from where you may appreciate the Colca Valley (which is one of the world's deepest canyons of over four kms at its deepest side) and have the chance to witness the huge and majestic condor flying only a few metres away.
Back in Chivay, you will visit the Pinchollo, Maca, Achoma and Yanque towns, and the Antahuilque and Choquetico scenic viewpoints. After lunch, you will visit the Coporaque town and the Chininia Colcas, incredible pre-Inca constructions on vertical natural walls. Then you will go to the Ocolle Scenic Viewpoint, the Amphitheater and here you can take an optional short hike to the little explored Uyo-Uyo archaelogical remains.

Day 21: Lima

Private transfer to Arequipa, excursions en-route
Entering the Pampa Cañahuas Reserve, an extensive plain populated by vicuñas and Andean camelids, you will then continue on to Vizcachani, the Toccra Pampas and skirt the crater of the Chucura Volcano to reach the Los Andes Scenic Viewpoint. From here you can see the various volcanoes that surround Arequipa.


You will be dropped off at the airport to meet your onward flight with LATAM.
