Depart the UK with British Airways for Lima.

On arrival, meet your private transfer and head to your hotel.

Day 3: Arequipa

Private transfer to the airport for your onward flight, followed by another private transfer in Arequipa to your next accommodation.

Private afternoon city tour
During your tour you will visit the Museum of Andean Sanctuaries where you can see Juanita Mummy, a 14-year-old Inca dignitary mummified by cold, the Main Square, one of the most beautiful squares in Peru is built of sillar (a white volcanic rock). Arequipa Cathedral, built in the 17th Century and fully rebuilt after several earthquakes. You will then visit the Church of the Society of Jesus with its exceptional collection of paintings and murals, the Carmen Alto Scenic Viewpoint & Yanahuara Scenic Viewpoint. You will end the tour at the Monastery of Saint Catherine, built in 1579.

Day 4: Yanque

Shared guided transfer to Colca Canyon
After being collected from your hotel, you will leave the city through Yura, a district characterised by impressive geographical features that include gullies, mountain ranges and canyons. You will enter the Pampa Cañahuas Reserve, an extensive plain populated by vicuñas, native and tamable Andean camelids that are a national symbol. You will then visit Vizcachani, the Toccra Pampas and will skirt the crater of the Chucura Volcano to reach the Los Andes Scenic Viewpoint in Patapampa (4800m) from where you can see the various volcanoes that surround Arequipa. You will have lunch at the Chivay town before continuing on to your hotel.

Day 5: Yanque

Shared full day tour of Colca Canyon
Today you will go to Condor Cross from where you may appreciate the Colca Valley (which is one of the world's deepest canyons of over four kms at its deepest side) and have the chance to witness the huge and majestic condor flying only a few metres away.
Back in Chivay, you will visit the Pinchollo, Maca, Achoma and Yanque towns, and the Antahuilque and Choquetico scenic viewpoints. After lunch, you will visit the Coporaque town and the Chininia Colcas, incredible pre-Inca constructions on vertical natural walls. Then you will go to the Ocolle Scenic Viewpoint, the Amphitheater and here you can take an optional short hike to the little explored Uyo-Uyo archaelogical remains. Return to Chivay in the afternoon.

Day 6: Puno

Morning at leisure and lunch at your hotel.
Shared transfer to Puno (5 hrs).

Day 7: Lake Titicaca

Shared guided transfer to Suasi Island
You will be collected from your hotel in Puno and be transferred to Puno's principal pier. Here you will board a motor boat to go to the floating islands of the Uros. The Uros are an ancestral society that inhabits a series of artificial islands built with totora, a reef that grows in the lake. After touring the islands, you will continue your trip to the Taquile Island. Unlike other islands, inhabited by Aymara-speaking people in the lake, its residents speak Quechua. You will receive a short explanation about the island and then you will sail on to Suasi Island. Located two and a half hours from Puno City Suasi is a private island on which it is possible to watch all types of highland camelids, birds, and typical crops, and participate in traditional celebrations. After enjoying a barbecue, you can take part in the activities suggested for the afternoon and you will spend the night at the facilities of the island.

Day 8: Puno

Morning at leisure. Explore the island and the lake that surrounds it, enjoy a canoe excursion on the lake or spend your time observing the rich and diverse wildlife. Lake Titicaca is the world's highest navigable lake and part of the border between Bolivia and Peru, countries that share the Aymara population indistinctly. It has an area of over 8,500kms square and various communities that maintain their ancestral attires and customs until today have developed on its islands.
Shared boat transfer to Puno (2 hrs).

Day 9: Cusco

Private transfer to the train station (15 mins).

The route covered by the train is considered to be one of the most beautiful in the world, with a trip that lasts ten and a half hours. At the start of the journey, you are welcomed at the Puno Station, where local musicians will provide background music as you board the train. Once aboard, you can enjoy the two dining cars decorated in the style of the Pullman cars of the 1920s. Also, during the trip, you will have the finest in gourmet food.

Day 10: Cusco

Known as the Temple of the Sun, your first stop today is to Koricancha where the Sun was worshipped during Inca times. Continue on your tour as you visit one of the most splendid Spanish colonial churches in the Americas; Cusco Cathedral. Located on the main square, it houses about 400 colonial painting from the Cusco art school, impressive gold, silver and precious stone works. You will then head to the Sacsayhuamán fortress, an emblematic work of the Incas, which protected the Holy City. Sacsayhuamán was built with megalithic blocks, which transportation and construction continue to be a mystery.

Day 11: The Sacred Valley of the Incas

After being collected from your hotel, your first stop of the day will be at a farm specialising in the rearing of South American Camelids. The farm near Awanakancha is home to a textile showroom and here locals will demonstrate the entire traditional process of weaving. Next you will visit Pisac market, here you can find an intriguing mix of local produce, including carvings, textiles and replicas of old Inca pieces. Pisac is also where you will stop for lunch, which can be enjoyed at a local restaurant. In the afternoon you will continue on to Ollantaytambo to explore the town whose residents still live in accordance with their old traditions. Ollantaytambo shows a huge archaeological complex that, without a doubt is one of the most monumental works of the Inca Empire. Although it bears the name of fortress, it was actually a ‘tambo’, a leisure place used to accommodate the delegations that travelled long distances.

Day 12: The Sacred Valley of the Incas

Day 13: Machu Picchu Pueblo

Shared transfer to the station (20 mins).

Inca Rail in First Class from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes.

On arrival, meet your guide to take a shared shuttle bus transfer to Machu Picchu citadel (30 mins).

Upon arrival at the site enjoy a three-hour guided tour of this magnificent and mysterious Inca citadel. Arriving in the afternoon you will be able to enjoy the site without the crowds. Your guide will explain the three different route options for your tour and together you will decide which route to take. There is no need to pre-book a particular route. During your tour the guide will explain everything currently known about the site and the history of the Incas.

Day 14: Cusco

Half day un-guided re-entry to Machu Picchu & Huayna Picchu
This morning you will be able to spend more time exploring Machu Picchu citadel, this time unguided. Rise early as arriving at dawn means that if the sky is clear you will be able to witness an amazing sunrise. You will also be able to climb the peak of Huayna Picchu where you can enjoy spectacular views looking down on the site and the surrounding Andean Peaks.

Take a shuttle bus to Aguas Calientes (30 mins).
Walk to the train station (approx. 10 mins).

Day 15: Overnight Travel

Private transfer to the airport (1 hr).

Board your Latam flight to Lima which then connect onward, back to Gatwick.
