Day 1 - 3

Gonarezhou National Park

Day notes

The safari starts in the South of Gonarezhou - the lifeblood of this area is the Mwenezi River which is the focus for much of our game viewing here. A great area to enjoy beautiful bush walks or just sitting under a tree next to the river with a packed lunch and enjoy the animals and birds coming and going for water. This area has some very big herds of buffalo and also a large Southern Giraffe population along with a range of other antelope species along with all the big predators who are present here as well.

Our camp here is a semi permanent camp with only 4 rooms that we will occupy exclusively for your safari - the rooms have attached bathrooms with flushing toilets and a bucket shower system and solar lighting. All tucked in nicely under the large Riverine trees.

Day 4 - 6

Gonarezhou National Park

Day notes

We move from the South of the Park through the Sandveld areas in the center of the park to reach the Runde River in the North of the Park. This large perennial river is responsible for carving out the famous Chilojo Cliffs and your mobile tented camp will be on the banks of the river underneath towering Riverine Trees overlooking the Cliffs. Your days here will be spent doing either game drives or bush walks and often a combination of the two depending on your particular interests and what is happening at the time so we get the best from any sighting and experience.

The tented camp has large walk in safari tents with their own attached bathroom which has a bucket shower system and dry  bush loo , solar lighting and comfortable cot type beds with mattress and proper linen. All very comfortable and fit for purpose to ensure when we leave there is little evidence we were ever there.

Day 7 - 8

Gonarezhou National Park

Day notes

We travel further East along the Runde River towards the park boundary where the Save River meets the Runde River. This is an ecologically diverse area with a combination of open flood plains,  tall Riverine woodland , palm forests and massive open natural pans. A great area to explore either on foot or by vehicle.

The camp itself is a basic fly camping set up with walk in dome tents, the same style of bedding as we had in the previous tented camp. There will be a shower set up for all to use and in line with the park restrictions to ensure minimal impact there is a single toilet facility near to the tents. Meals will be prepared in camp in line with our African themed meals  and served around the campfire.

This is a really genuine remote, fly camping experience but with enough comforts that you will not be wanting for much, and we may even ask you to assist with some of camp chores, nothing hectic but will just make things move along and make you feel involved in the whole safari experience.

Day 9 - 10

Gonarezhou National Park

Day notes

We travel back West along the Runde River flood plains and then into the rolling hills of the Far North of Gonarezhou. This camp is in the heart of the area where the Black Rhino have been reintroduced successfully into the park. The camp itself is a semi permanent camp very much the same as the first camp you stayed in that overlooks the small dam which has  a constant presence of wildlife right through the day and night. You may even be lucky and watch a Black Rhino coming to drink in the moonlight. Another great area for wandering bush walks through these low hills and valleys it really is a beautiful part of the park. This can be an arm chair spot and you can spend your time here not even going out just sitting at your room will give you a great vantage point to watch the wildlife coming and going from the dam. Herds of Elephant, Blue Wildebeest, Zebra, Impala, Hippos, Warthogs, Greater Kudu, Common Duiker, Southr Giraffe, Lion, Leopard, Black Backed Jackal, Spotted and Brown Hyena are all resident around here along with some fantastic birdlife.
