Wasa Lodge is the ideal venue to explore Kasanka from and lies on the edge of Lake Wasa in the eastern half of the park just 12 kms from the park entrance at the tarmac road. From this location, access to the famous Fibwe Hide for the bats and Sitatunga is an easy 15 minutes drive or 2 hour walk away. Wasa Lodge has a fine view with puku, hippo and sometimes even Sitatunga visible from the main dining area.

The guest chalets are simple and yet comfortable, all have double or single beds in the room, a simple shower, basin and flush toilet in an en-suite bathroom and a verandah overlooking Lake Wasa.

This three night safari is not a regimented safaris but to ensure you get the most from your visit the plan during will be to spend your days with an early wake up, enjoy a quick cup of coffee while listening to the early morning bird calls and grunting hippo from your chalet verandah overlooking Lake Wasa.

Head off for an early morning game drive to the bat hides to witness the spectacle of over 10 million bats coming back to roost in the bat forest.

Enjoy viewing the Sitatunga grazing across the swamps game drive - Pontoon or be adventurous and mountain bike to the bat forest to take in the beautiful views, birding, wildlife and of course the bats from the hides.

Head back to Wasa Lodge for scrumptious brunch and enjoy the surrounds by relaxing under a shady tree with a pair of binoculars.

Enjoy afternoon tea followed by a guided walk around Lake Wasa to the perfect sundowner spot and watch the sun set over the lake or head back to the bat forest via a game drive to watch the masses of bats fly out for the night as well as the raptors who take advantage of this opportunity to hunt the bats.

Head back to Wasa Lodge for some drinks around the fire and enjoy a delicious dinner under the stars.

Kasanka National Park is one of the most picturesque parks in Zambia. It contains a rich diversity of animal, bird and plant life including several rare species including sitatunga, wattled crane, Ross’s Lourie and Blue Monkeys. Kasanka is also host to a unique congregation of several million straw-coloured fruitbats every November and December. Witness this spectacle of these bats at dusk and dawn, filling the skies as far as the eye can see.

A charter flight will take you from Lusaka to Kasanka and back to save time traveling and get the most from your safari.

Enjoy a game drives to the exclusive BBC or NHK filming hides to witness the breathtaking spectacle of millions of bats leaving or coming in to roost.

Begin with a visit to the Kasanka Conservation Centre to observe a lesson in the local school. This is followed by a lunch at the Education Centre. Thereafter, join the researchers in the field as they follow the Kinda baboons and share their studies and findings.

Game drive to Luwombwa Lodge where you can either canoe or boat on the Luwombwa River to enjoy fantastic birdlife! Thereafter, enjoy a picnic lunch overlooking the river followed by a visit to the tallest tree in Zambia!

Enjoy an early game drive to Pontoon for likely sightings of sitatunga. Then enjoy a guided walk to Fibwe hide for coffee and views over the swamps. Return to Wasa Lodge by game drive.

Option to Mountain bike to the Bat Forest to enjoy fantastic birding and wildlife from a variety of hides before cycling back to the lodge.
