Visit Pisac Archaeological Site and Calca Market

Begin your journey in the highlands above the Sacred Valley, where the ancient archaeological site of Pisac unfold across the mountainside. Once a significant ceremonial and agricultural centre, Pisac is home to the only remaining Inca sun dial outside of Machu Picchu. As you explore its temples and terraces, the panoramic views over the valley below are nothing short of extraordinary.

Continue to the charming andean town of Calca, nestled at the foot of the eastern range. Its lively market offers a vivid glimpse into everyday life, with stalls overflowing with local produce, herbs, and flowers — a timeless meeting place where tradition and exchange come alive.

Visit Chinchero, Moray & Maras

Begin in Chinchero, a highland village set among vast open plains, where ancient stonework frames sweeping views of the APUS (mountains). The market, particularly vibrant on Sundays, is a glimpse into daily life — a place where neighbours trade textiles, products, and stories in a rhythm unchanged for generations.

Continue to Moray, a striking site of circular terraces believed to have served as an agricultural testing ground. Then descend to Maras, where glistening salt ponds spill down the mountainside and local families still harvest by hand — a quiet, enduring craft that supports the community and invites you to take a piece of the Andes home with you.

Explore Machu Picchu

Meet your guide at the exit of the train station or in the lobby of your hotel for a short walk to the bus station and a 20-minute bus ride up to Machu Picchu Citadel (elevation: 8,000 ft. – 2,432 m.a.s.l.). Scratching the surface of the heavens from its place atop the grandest of mountaintop pedestals, it is easy to lose yourself in the mystique and grandeur of this enigmatic citadel. Soak in the energy and atmosphere of one of the most significant archeological sites on the planet while your guide helps you uncover the secrets behind key areas of interest such as the Sun Dial, the Guard House, the Sacred Plaza and the Temple of the Sun.

Conquering Machu Picchu Mountain (with local guide)

Begin with a short walk from your hotel and a scenic bus ride to the entrance of Machu Picchu Citadel, located at 2,432 metres above sea level. Accompanied by your local guide, follow the trail to Machu Picchu Mountain—a medium to challenging hike that ascends steadily along well-laid stone steps, some of which align with the ancient Inca Trail. Entry is subject to availability, with the early 7–8 am slot selected unless you request otherwise.

Allow up to two hours to reach the summit, where sweeping views over Machu Picchu and the surrounding valleys reward your effort—a rare vantage point from which to grasp the sheer scale and beauty of the Andes. The descent takes around ninety minutes, completing an active and enriching morning in one of the world’s most iconic mountain sanctuaries.
