Days 1 - 4: Moremi Game Reserve

Depart Maun per light aircraft. You will be met on arrival by your game ranger who will be waiting to transfer you to Xakanaxa Camp, located in the heart of the Moremi Game Reserve about 50 kilometres to the west of the Khwai Gate and about 140 kilometres to the north of Maun. Situated on the Xakanaxa Lagoon, the camp boasts one of the prime locations in all of Botswana. Towering riverine forests, open savannah, seasonal floodplains, permanent lagoons, rivers and the intricate channels of the Okavango Delta surround the camp and makes for a varied habitat that ensures the safari traveller of the very best all-year-round Okavango Delta land and water experience. Whilst at the camp all meals, teas/coffees and drinks are included.

The stylish main buildings extend into the Khwai River and are set on raised platforms to maximize the views over the surrounding lagoons and islands. Constructed of local timber, reed and thatch they comprise of an elegant lounge containing a small but comprehensive library, dining room, expansive sundeck, plunge pool and sala with day bed as well as a fire-deck set under giant Jackalberry trees. Accommodation at Xakanaxa is provided in thirteen classic luxury canvas Meru-style tents on raised decks. All tents have en-suite facilities and modern amenities. Game drives are conducted via open Land Rovers, water game viewing via mokoro in conjunction with a powerboat exploration of the Okavango Delta.

Expert tips

For the light aircraft transfers, you are limited to maximum 20 kg baggage (this must include your hand baggage). All baggage MUST be packed in soft bags, as hard suitcases cannot be loaded onto the aircraft.

Day 5: End of Itinerary

After a morning activity and a leisurely breakfast on your last day at Xakanaxa Camp, you board a light aircraft for your transfer back to Maun.
