You will be collected at your hotel at a pre-arranged time, and transferred to the Drakensberg Mountains. The route will take you through the beautiful Natal Midlands, a farming area and also an area where many crafters have opened studios and workshops. The last part of the drive will take you through stunning mountain scenery, before reaching your hotel.
Two days for you to decide what appeals to you most! Perhaps it’s a full day hike into the mountains accompanied by a local mountain guide, or for those who are not quite so energetic, a relaxing day at your accommodation, experiencing the various facilities on offer such as tennis, enjoying the swimming pool or booking an optional horse-ride. There is also a 9-hole golf course adjacent to your hotel. Whatever your choice, you can look forward to experiencing a day filled with breath-taking scenery, spectacular vistas and the most diverse flora and fauna!
You will be collected mid-morning and transferred to Nambiti Wildlife Reserve, a private Big Five bush retreat and game conservancy set on 20,000 acres of malaria-free bushveld in KwaZulu-Natal. Check in at your safari lodge, and in the afternoon, set off on the first game- drive. The red African sun drops towards the horizon and your ranger has found the perfect vantage point.
You sip on sundowners and savour a wonderful array of snacks discussing the sightings made only minutes before. The sun slips out of sight, the spot lights are out and the time is right to see the big cats moving around on the reserve. Return to your lodge for dinner and a night – you may be lucky and hear the calls of the nocturnal animals.
You will be woken very early, and after a cup of coffee or tea, set off on the morning’s game drive. Settle back and enjoy the sights and sounds of the African Bush. For the next 3 hours your ranger will keep you enthralled as you seek out and discuss the diverse fauna and flora as it awakens before your eyes. Return to your lodge for breakfast and then it’s time to relax. Take in the magnificent views of the valley below, have a dip in the rim flow pool or simply lie back on the deck or in your beautifully furnished room, with your favourite magazine or book whilst enjoying the tranquillity. After lunch we set off on the afternoon’s game drive before yet another delicious dinner at the lodge.
Your last morning game-drive before you will be collected and transferred to Durban’s King Shaka International Airport for departure.
