Day 1: Cape Town

Arrive Cape Town, Mother City of the Republic where you are met for transfer to your hotel for the next two nights. 

 

Day 2: Cape Town

This morning you will be collected from the hotel following breakfast by your driver guide for a full day tour of the Cape Peninsula. 

Travel along the Atlantic Seaboard coast passing the seaside suburbs of Sea Point, Bantry Bay and Clifton making a stop on the granite boulders for the magnificent views of the Twelve Apostles along the Atlantic coast side of Table Mountain, and the beach of Camps Bay.  Continue along Victoria Drive to Hout Bay, a charming little village and fishing harbor.  Depending on the weather, board a boat to see the mass of Cape Fur Seals on Duiker Island who are mainly males waiting until they are the right breeding age.  From Hout Bay, drive along the spectacular road below Chapmans Peak.  Chapmans Peak drive, 600m above the ocean, considered to be one of the finest scenic coastal drives the in world. Enter the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and drive to the tip of the Cape Peninsula, where we take the funicular to the lighthouse at Cape Point with its beautiful views overlooking False Bay, so named as the early navigators thought they had arrived at Table Bay. Leave the reserve and continue up the False Bay coastline to our lunch stop at one of the seafood restaurants along the coast. Continue to Boulders Beach, and an opportunity to study the only penguins to be found on the continent of Africa, the African Jackass Penguin, returning to the hotel late afternoon. 

City and Table Mountain

Explore the wonderful market of Greenmarket Square, and haggle with local sellers of beautiful wares. Learn about the rich history, culture and architecture of Cape Town, walk through the peacful Company Gardens, visit the Castle of Good Hope, Grande Parade and the District Six Museum. Finally, marvel at the colourful houses and cobbled streets of the Cape Malay Quarter.

Day 3: Franschhoek

Following breakfast, enjoy a morning tour of the city of Cape Town and take the cable car to the top of Table Mountain with your guide.  This afternoon your car will be dropped off or transfer by driver to the Cape Winelands and your hotel. 

Depart this morning for drive to the Cape Winelands of Constantia for overnight.  Time available this afternoon for wine tasting at local vintners. Plan to enjoy dinner in the one of the many award-winning restaurants.

Day 4: Franschhoek

Meet your guide after breakfast to depart for a full day tour and tastings in the Cape Winelands and a leisurely exploration of historic towns, liquid delights, gastronomic wonders and home-grown hospitality.

Wine estates visited will vary according to client preferences, but the tour generally includes the region’s major wine producing areas of Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschoek, and there are chances aplenty en route for tastings of world-renowned reds and whites, as well as Cap Classiques – South Africa’s answer to “Champagne”.

Lunch at one of the many classic, award-winning restaurants in the area.

atural and historic heritage abounds in this area and your tour may take in sights like the Afrikaans Language Monument with its panoramic Boland views, the historic estate of Boschendal with its beautifully preserved Cape Dutch buildings and priceless period furniture, and idyllic Franschoek, nestled in a valley settled by French Huguenots in 1688.  Franschoek is a delight for antique lovers and gastronomes (the town boasts some world-famous eateries).

Stellenbosch, South Africa’s second-oldest town, provides another glimpse of classic 17th-century Cape style, with a chance to browse quaint Dorp Street and the many museums, galleries and shops of this lovely university town.

Return to your hotel late this afternoon. 

Day 5: Hermanus

This morning depart by guide/transfer or self drive along the coast seeing the incredible sights as you make your way to Hermanus.  An incredible coastline offers awe-inspiring views, superlative accommodations, prime whale watching and outdoor activities.   You’ll have two days to explore the region, hike local trails, scuba or shark cage dive or just relax.

Day 7: Sabi Sand Nature Reserve

Depart with your guide or self drive and return rental car at the Cape Town Airport before boarding  a flight to the Kruger Park Private reserves.  Local transfer to the safari lodge. Meet your ranger who will share their wealth of knowledge as they introduce you to the game reserve's diverse wildlife, prolific bird species and unique. 

This evening, set out on an open land-rover safari with your personal ranger and tracker team and share their wealth of knowledge as they introduce you to the game reserve's diverse wildlife, prolific bird species and unique vegetation & habitats.  Experience a night drive that brings you closer to the magic of the nocturnal wildlife, thriving under the clear, star studded sky while spotlights provide the opportunity to view the nocturnal wildlife.  Back at the lodge enjoy the comforts of a log fire and sissling sosaties as tales of Old White Hunters and African myths are told.

Day 8: Sabi Sand Nature Reserve

Awaken at dawn, accompanied by the early morning sounds and smells of the African bushveld, is an experience unique to early risers.  This is often the best time for game viewing.  Keep your camera ready!  This reserve has the big five and wonderful birdlife just waiting to be photographed.   Walks through the veld with an experienced tracker and day and night-time drives through the veld in an open landrover are all included.   In the evening, the fire roars, and laughter fills the air.  But no more than a little walk away, the wind blows over the river.  Suddenly the air is split by an elephant’s trumpeting.  A primordial warped note of oldest Africa.

Day 9: End of Itinerary

A dawn awakening for an early morning drive and final tour the reserve for a few more hours before returning to the lodge for breakfast.  Proceed to the Airstrip in time for your departure flight.
