Day 1: Nairobi

Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta Airport and transferred to the hotel.

Have a day tour in Nairobi and overnight at the hotel.

0600 Hrs: Met and briefed by our representative and transferred to The Nairobi national Park

0700 Hrs: Morning Game Drives at Nairobi National Park Welcome to Kenya’s most accessible yet incongruous safari experience. Set on the city’s southern outskirts, Nairobi National Park (at 117 sq km, it’s one of Africa’s smallest) has abundant wildlife which can, in places, be viewed against a backdrop of city skyscrapers and airliners coming in to land – it's the only national park on earth that borders a capital city. Remarkably, the animals seem utterly unperturbed by it all.

1000 Hrs: David Sheldrick At the heart of the DSWT’s conservation activities is the Orphans’ Project, which has achieved world-wide acclaim through its hugely successful elephant and rhino rescue and rehabilitation program. The Orphans’ Project exists to offer hope for the future of Kenya’s threatened elephant and rhino populations as they struggle against the threat of poaching for their ivory and horn, and the loss of habitat due to human population pressures and conflict, deforestation and drought.

1200 Hrs: Lunch at the Carnivore Restaurant / Tamambo Karen Blixen

1400hrs-1530hrs- Karen Blixen Museum A short tour to the home of coffee pioneer, Karen Blixen is now preserved as a museum. A visit to this museum provides an opportunity to step back in time and gain an insight into this remarkable woman’s life.  This museum is one of the very interested regional museums and archeological and pre historic sites of the national museum of Kenya. And it continues to be an immensely popular tourist attractions

1630 Hrs: Giraffe Center The endangered rothschild giraffe breeding programme started with the inception of the Giraffe Centre back then in 1979. The giraffes breed naturally in an approximate 120 Acerage of land and the young calves born at the centre are introduced back into the wild at the age of 2years. The giraffes at the centre are closely observed and monitored by AFEW staff and when need be their natural diet is supplemented with Lucern Grass, salt blocks and carrots. Ever since the breeding started, the centre has handled over 50 Rothschild Giraffes and most of them have been introduced back into the wild in selected Kenya’s protected areas.

Expert tips

Wear layers of clothes during game drives. You are out as the sun is rising and setting so temperatures can drop quite a bit during a game drive. Most properties provide blankets but wearing layers will ensure your comfort.

The luggage allowance on our schedule flights is strictly 15KGS PER PERSON and that SOFT BAGS are highly recommended, if not essential. Due to limited space available for storage in safari vehicles, we strongly recommend use soft duffle bags rather than hard suitcases.

Day 3: Masai Mara

Enjoy breakfast then proceed on a full day of game viewing drives & adventure. Be on the look-out for the big five that Maasai Mara is famous for. These include the lion, savannah (African) elephant, the Cape buffalo, the leopard and the black rhino. We may even be so lucky to witness a leopard or a cheetah sprint and make a kill! We return back to the camp for dinner and overnight.

Optional visit to a village of the Maasai people (extra cost) to witness the singing and dancing that are part of their daily lives and sacred rituals.
