Welcome to Zambia! On arrival, you will clear immigration and customs (no visa needed for US Citizens), then proceed to the arrivals area, where you will be met and transferred to Thorntree River Lodge, located along the bank of the mighty Zambezi!
Thorntree River Lodge is set in Zambia’s Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, just a short distance from the famous Victoria Falls. Thorntree River Lodge has been completely rebuilt with an environmentally-conscious design. Drawing inspiration from local customs and culture, it is a modern contemporary design with tented roof structures to maintain the feel of authentic Africa.
All meals and most activities are included.
Today, you will depart Thorntree and be driven across the border into Zimbabwe to the Victoria Falls Airport for your flight to Hwange. On arrival at the airstrip, you will be met and taken by a shared game drive to camp.
Hwange National Park is a land of contrasts from dense teak and acacia forest to vast open savannah, offering guests an exhibition of raw and diverse Africa. This intimate bush camp is perfect for a relaxing Hwange safari with friends and loved ones. Somalisa Camp is a place where tranquillity meets adventure. Where one moment you are sipping on your gin and tonic, listening to the distant baritone roar of a lion coalition off on the hunt, and the next you are gazing over at a congregation of elephants at your doorstep, peacefully sharing a sundowner with you. Every person is part of the community which helps create the magical and welcoming feeling you get when you visit Somalisa, you arrive as a guest, but you leave a part of the family.
Nature and luxury are in harmony at Somalisa Camp. With natural wood and copper finishes, the organic features of the bush fuse perfectly with the deluxe style. Kudhinda, the Zimbabwean national material, is paired with modern decor creating an authentic contemporary African fusion. At the edge of the expansive deck in the main area, sits an elephant pool which is frequented by elephant families, which is a true highlight at this beautiful camp.
Activities include guided walks lead by qualified and passionate guides who will share their knowledge and love of the bush with you, game drives and night drives. Wildlife sightings include elephant, kudu, sable antelope, zebra, wildebeest, gemsbok, the rare and endangered roan antelope, buffalo, giraffe, lion, leopard, hyena, and many other wildlife species.
Today, you will be returned to the airstrip for the flight to Lake Kariba. You will be met at the airstrip and transferred to the lodge.
Bumi Hills Safari Lodge boasts one of Africa’s finest wilderness locations with an elevated position on a range of remote hills overlooking the vastness of Lake Kariba. Bumi is situated near the North Eastern border of the Matusadona National Park and is easily accessible by light aircraft and boat, allowing you to be swiftly transported into paradise without the stress of a long journey.
The safari lodge has a total of 10 luxury rooms, all with balconies and uninhibited views over Lake Kariba. Taking centre stage is the beautiful infinity pool that seems to blend endlessly into the lake horizon. The pool is surrounded by intimate wine and dining terraces on different levels. The lodge interiors have been beautifully finished in a fusion of contemporary western and African styles.
Not only is Kariba’s shoreline rich in wildlife but the lodge’s proximity to Matusadona allows for the animals roam freely between the national park and Bumi Hills’ private concession. Activities include guided walking safaris, stargazing, boating, birding, catch-and-release fishing, day and night game drives searching for lions in particular, as well as engaging cultural visits to our nearby local community.
Today, you will be returned to the airstrip for your flight to Mana Pools. On arrival at the airstrip, you will be met and transferred via shared game drive to camp.
Nyamatusi is African Bush Camps’ third camp in Mana Pools National Park and is located in the Nyamatusi Wilderness area. The park itself exudes a feeling of beauty, an untouched wilderness. Mana Pools offers a diversity of different wildlife and bird species, including the endangered and rare wild dog. The Zambezi River itself is famous for its large concentrations of hippos and crocodiles.
Nyamatusi Camp is situated on the banks of the renowned Zambezi River and is a representation of the surrounding environment. The camp is reminiscent of days gone by and is inspired by nature. Nyamatusi comprises of 6 spacious and well-appointed luxury tents, each with its own private deck and plunge pool, offering remote views overlooking the Zambezi.
Watch the drama of nature play out before your eyes on game drives or thrilling canoeing safaris. Fishing on the Zambezi River (catch and release only) and birding safaris are highlights here. All these activities are included in your stay and led by qualified and passionate guides keen to share their knowledge and love of the bush with you.
Today, you will be returned to the airstrip for your flight to Harare, where you will connect with your onward international flights.
