Day 1: Cape Town

Upon arrival at Cape Town International Airport you will be met by your guide who will transfer you to the One & Only hotel for check in and an evening at leisure.

Day 2: Cape Town

Depart the city up towards Table Mountain & catch the 360 degree view Cable Car from the Cableway Station. This quick ride to the top of the mountain affords beautiful views over the city & ocean, as the Cable Car rotates & rises, feel yourself lift into the heavens above the Mother City. (Weather permitting)

After about an hour absorbing the views from the top of the mountain return to the city & enjoy some time strolling through Company Gardens, a garden for ships & locals from the mid-17th Century to gather fresh produce, St George’s mall & cathedral, the Cape Malay Quarter, Houses of Parliament as well as some of the museums & galleries. As you wonder through the city, absorbing the architecture & fascinating history, pick & choose at some of the cities lower, craft & traditional food markets.

Enjoy some time driving through the rest of the city, passing by the Grand parade where Nelson Mandela addressed the nation on his release in 1990 & the castle which is the oldest building in South Africa. Should history be of interest a visit to the District Six Museum is a must-see to understand the history of the Apartheid era well.

Day 3: Cape Town

Depart Cape Town along the Atlantic Seaboard through some of Cape Town’s beautiful seaside towns such as Sea Point, Camps Bay & Clifton. Magnificent photo opportunities arise as you pass by Llandudno through to Hout Bay; a small fishing town snugged into a bay of Rocky Mountains. Drive around the bay & through to Chapman’s Peak, one of the country’s most spectacular coastal sites as the sheer cliffs of the mountain meet the ocean. Further round the mountain as if appearing from no-where the longest beach in the Cape appears in front of you with spectacular views of these sandy shores. As we enter the Cape of Good Hope National Park, nature becomes abundant with rocky shores, unique vegetation, indigenous birds & views to die for. Animals that call this park home are those such as Cape Mountain Zebra, Ostrich, Eland, Bontebok & Baboon. Once reaching the Point, choose to either climb or ride by funicular to where the lighthouse stands. With sandy white beaches & shipwrecks below the views of False Bay seem out of this world – this fairy-tale spot will have you captivated for at least an hour. On our way out, a must-see visit to the Cape of Good Hope allows another photo opportunity – the most South Western point of Africa.

Our lunch stop is in the home of a local renowned chef who serves an extended gourmet locally inspired set menu overlooking the ocean and paired with local wines.

After lunch, visit the African Penguins at Boulders Beach & stroll through the naval village of Simonstown. Driving along the coast, direction Cape Town, take in the views of the ocean & seaside towns such as St James & Muizenberg.

End the day with a beautiful sunset drink at a surprise location; somewhere with a stunning a view.

Day 4: Cape Town

Today is a day at leisure, now that you are familiar with the city and it's exciting offerings, revisit your favorite places or spend some time seeing the last of the places you wanted to see before you head out of the city tomorrow.

Day 5: De Kelders

Start the morning in one of Cape Towns exciting markets, with wonderful food for every taste bud, this market is a really fun way to start a Saturday morning.

After some time spent here, we head along the coastline of falsebay where you can enjoy some amazing views of the bay and then we head towards the East coast to a town called Hermanus. This town is famous during the whale season (June - November) when the southern right whales come into the harbor to give birth and are visible from the shore.

After exploring the seaside town of Hermanus we head into the Grootbos Nature reserve a true gem of the overberg region.

Check in, relax and unwind, you can enjoy a sunset drive through the reserve before dinner.

Day 6: De Kelders

An early wake up call for transfer to the shark cage diving center where you can spend some time with the beautiful great white sharks that roam these waters.

Accompanied by professionals and researchers you are in good hands as you enter the cage attached to the side of the boat and view these enormous apex predators up close under water. These predator sightings can also be enjoyed equally as well from the top of the boat

After a thrilling morning in the ocean you will return to Grootbos for lunch and some time to relax and possibly enjoy another activity on offer on the reserve.

On the reserve one can enjoy horse rides, nature walks, guided nature drives or just relax and enjoy the amazing facilities of the establishment.

Day 7: Franschhoek

Start the morning after breakfast with a beautiful drive through the surrounding areas, inland towards the wine valley. Visit the Hemel en Aarde valley for some tastings and then onto Elgin and into Franschhoek.

Here you will enjoy some lunch at a local eatery and have some time to explore the Franschhoek region and all its wonderful scenery and wines.

End the day with check in at La Residence and freshen up before your dinner transfer to The Tasting Room in the centre of Franschhoek.

Day 8: Franschhoek

Start the day in Stellenbosch exploring the local town and tasting some of the wonderful wines they have to offer. Next we head out for unique wine safari through some of the vineyards of the Waterford Wine estate where you will have the opportunity to taste wines in amongst the very vines the grapes were picked from.

From here we head to our lunch stop with stunning views over the valley at Delaire Graff Restaurant followed by a wine tasting at Tokara and a possible other stop depending on time restrictions.

End the day at La Residence for a sunset drink overlooking the mountains.

Day 9: Timbavati Private Nature Reserve

You will depart after breakfast for the Cape Town International Airport for your scheduled flight to the Greater Kruger area.

You will be met at the Eastgate Airport for transfer to Makanyi Safari Lodge situated in the Timbavati Game Reserve. Check into your accommodation upon arrival and enjoy some time at leisure before setting off on your first safari game drive in open sided 4x4 vehicle.

Return to the lodge where you will have time to refresh before dinner.

Day 10: Timbavati Private Nature Reserve

Enjoy the day at leisure with morning and afternoon game drives in open 4x4 vehicles in search of the African Big 5. The safari drives will be conducted by an experienced ranger and tracker team. You will have the possibility of viewing buffalo, elephant, leopard, lion, rhinoceros, zebra, giraffe, a wide variety of antelope species and so much more.

You will also have the possibility of enjoying a bush walk accompanied by an armed ranger. The walk enables you to learn more about the smaller things in the bush such as tracks, plants, and even have the possibility of viewing animals in a controlled environment.

All meals to be enjoyed at the lodge.

Day 11: Timbavati Private Nature Reserve

Enjoy another day at Makanyi Safari Lodge with morning and afternoon safari game viewing activities both of which will stop in amongst the Big 5 for something to drink and eat along the way. Each drive will be about 3 hours long and you, the tracker and the guide will work together to find the animals you are looking for.

Enjoy the afternoon between game drives relaxing at the lodge and enjoying the facilities on offer such as the SPA and the various relaxation areas.

Day 12: Timbavati Private Nature Reserve

Today is your last full day of safari and consists of 2 game drives and all meals served at the lodge. Spend the day on safari searching for the last of the animals that you are out to find and absorbing these beautiful surroundings.

Day 13: Victoria Falls (Zambia)

Enjoy breakfast at the lodge after which you can prepare for your transfer to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport, Nelspruit, after about 3 hours drive you will arrive at the airport and check in for your flight.

*There is an optional air hop which you can make use of instead of the long land transfer at an additional cost

Depart on a scheduled flight to the Harry Mwanga Nkumbula International Airport, Livingstone. You will be met upon arrival for private transfer to Tongabezi situated on the banks of the Zambezi River.

Check into your accommodation and enjoy the afternoon at leisure. You will have lunch out on the main deck overlooking the Zambezi River. The remainder of the afternoon will be spent at leisure at the lodge.

Enjoy a sunset cruise before dinner with a stop for drinks on a small river island.

Dinner will be enjoyed at the lodge.

Day 14: Victoria Falls (Zambia)

You will depart the morning after breakfast for the Victoria Falls. You will stop in at the Royal Livingstone Hotel from where you will set off from next to the deck area by boat for a visit to the Livingstone Island. The island is situated in the middle of the Falls and you will be able to experience first-hand how David Livingstone arrived onto the small island and how her discovered the Victoria Falls for the first time. You will enjoy lunch on the island and also have the possibility of swimming in the Devil’s Pool, a small natural swimming pool in the middle of the Falls (should water levels be acceptable).

Return to mainland and continue onto the helipad from where you will depart on a helicopter flight to enjoy a “birds-eye-view” of the Falls and the myriad of channels between the island in the main river. The Zambezi River will be in full flow and the spectacle of the mist of Mosi-oa-Tunya (local name for the Falls meaning “the smoke that thunders”) will tower almost 1000 feet into the air above the Falls. The flight will be a duration of around 12-15 minutes and allow for good photographic opportunities.

Return back to the lodge and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 15: End of Itinerary

Enjoy the morning at leisure or partake in a last activity before being transferred to the Harry Mwanga Nkumbula International Airport, Livingstone.

Depart on scheduled flight to OR Tambo International Airport in time for your connection flight home.
