Leave Durban after breakfast for a scenic drive past the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands and its “Meander” of crafts and country produce and impressive Howick Falls. Continue past Midmar Dam towards Underberg in the southern Drakensberg mountain area. There will be free time this afternoon to enjoy the mountain scenery from your guesthouse.

Spend a full day in the mountains, you can book various optional activities such as hiking, horse riding, golf, and similar – or just relax at the swimming pool. For the more adventurous, a thrilling 4x4 tour is also available up the famous Sani Pass. The road winds all the way up the mountain-side, through the border with Lesotho, and you can visit the pub in Africa on the top!
Today, a fairly long drive to the Wild Coast where you will spend 2 nights in the beautiful Wild Coast, on the Indian Ocean beach. On your way you will travel through rural countryside with market villages. In Mthatha there is an interesting Nelson Mandela museum. The Transkei (as it’s commonly known) and untouched Wild Coast is the homeland of the Xhosa people, Madiba’s Tribe. In the late afternoon arrive at your coastal guesthouse.

Relax all day on the beach or at the pool – enjoy scenic walks along the ocean. Alternatively, book an optional activity such as a guided bird-watching hike; a lagoon cruise with forest walk, fishing, kayaking and more.
After an early morning beach walk, depart early for another long drive through the Eastern Cape en route to Addo Elephant Park. Travel through scenic areas, down to river crossings and up the other side. We recommend you make a stop in historic Grahamstown, a settler city with many interesting churches, the well-known Rhodes University and an unusual Victorian amusement once considered 'The Magic Mirror of Life'. This 19th century Victorian shop and home is now a museum housing interesting displays, an observatory and the only "Camera Obscura" in the southern hemisphere. After a break, continue your journey, arriving at Addo and your lodge in the late afternoon.

Today you have the option to relax and enjoy the comfort of your lodge. Alternatively, take a morning self-drive into the Addo Elephant National Park or join a guided optional excursion on offer by the guesthouse – such as an open vehicle safari drive in Addo National Park. Besides its large elephant population, Addo also boasts many other kinds of wildlife.
The drive to Port Elizabeth will take approximately 1 hour. You can either end your holiday here (and hand back your car at Port Elizabeth airport before flying out), or you can continue with our "Port Elizabeth - Cape Town" module which will take you along the famous Garden Route, to Cape Town.
