The Best of Rwanda – 10 days

Arrival at Kigali Airport. Your guide will be there waiting for you. Pick up and proceed to your accommodation.

After breakfast we drive to Akagera National Park. On our way we enjoy the beautiful landscape and rural way of life of the local people.

Boat trip in the afternoon.

Travel time: 120 km, 3 hours

Full day game drives.

Akagera National Park was gazette in 1934 and is Rwanda’s only Savannah national park. The scenery is beautiful and the park is a habitat to the big five. Expect to see elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, hippos and crocodiles. With a little luck lions and leopards are possible.

Drive to Volcanoes National Park. Game drive as you exit the park.

Volcanoes National Park is a unique jungle, with many monkey species, including the endemic Golden Monkeys. Volcanoes National Park is part of the Virunga Mountains, covering Uganda, Rwanda and Congo, and one of the two places in the world where you can find Mountain Gorillas!

Travel time: 120 km, 3 hours

Gorilla tracking!!! Early morning departure with your ranger to search for one of the world’s most interesting and endangered animals, the Mountain Gorilla! You will spend one hour with one of our closest relatives. An experience you will never forget.

Note: it’s also possible to do Diane Fossey instead of Gorilla Tracking, Nature walks through the beautiful environment in the afternoon (optional).

Today we will drive to Gisenyi or do 1 of the optional activities before driving to Lake Kivu.

Optional activities;

• Diane Fossey Hike
• Golden Monkey tracking.

Boat trip at lake Kivu in the afternoon, reach the hot springs, enjoy the African massage with warm clay.

Drive to Nyungwe, Optional tea plantation visit enroute.

Nyungwe Forest is East Africa’s largest forest, with 13 monkey species, including chimpanzees, Angolan Black Colobus, Mona Monkey and Owl Faced Monkeys.

Travel time: 3 hours

Chimpanzee tracking in the Morning, 1 activity in the afternoon. 

Afternoon Activities to choose from;

• Waterfall walk
• Canopy walk
• Primate walk (Angolan Black Colobus monkeys)

Drive to Nyanza Hill and the King’s palace, reach Butare (Huye) for the National Museum of Rwanda.  Proceed to Kigali afterwards for dinner and overnight.

Today you wake up at leisure, you will go for the city tour including the Genocide Memorial, Belgium Peacekeeper Memorial, visit the local market. visit presidential Palace Kigali tourist urban park. visit Kigali cultural village if time allows for the souvenirs.

Afterwards transfer to Kigali Airport for your outbound flight.
