Day 1: San Jose

Once you arrive at Juan Santa Maria airport in San Jose, you will proceed to immigrations, after which a lodge rep will meet you.  They will provide you with a sticker with your name on it, to assist their staff outside the airport for I.D. purposes. You will then gather your luggage, go through Customs and exit the arrival terminal. The transfer folks will identify you, load your luggage into their vehicle and transfer you to the DoubleTree by Hilton Cariari,  just 15 minutes away. Your room has been reserved and your guide will fill you in on the pick up time/ place for the next morning. The remainder of today will be at leisure.

Expert tips

The Cariari has a few nice restaurants on the property or you might get suggestions from the Concierge on restaurants to try or places to visit. Historically, the long tenured doormen of the Cariari have always been the best source of information, so, give them a try as well.

Day 3: Costa Rica

Day 3 & 4 - These will be full fishing days.

At first light (5:00a.m.) you will get a wake up call and head over to the main dining room for a full American breakfast.

After your meal you will go fishing for the day. The early part of the day may be spent catching bait (mostly sardines and blue runners).

These are excellent bait for roosterfish, snapper, groupers, snook, etc. Don’t be surprised if it takes an hour to catch enough bait for a full day. As these baits are very sensitive and die quickly,  it is better to catch them fresh for your best results.

Your boat will be equipped for a full day on the water including tackle, lunch and beverages. You will fish until approximately 4:00p.m. and then head back to the dock. You will have time for a swim in the pool or the beach and a shower before dinner is served at 7:00p.m.
