Day 1: Kigali

Welcome to Kigali, Rwanda!!!

Your professional English speaking driver/guide and tour representative will be on hand at the arrivals exit of Kigali International Airport  and transfer you to Question Coffee Gishushu for a cup of Coffee and   a short briefing  about your itinerary and our beautiful Country before you start your first activity in Kigali.  Of course  Question Coffee Master Class. 

QUESTION COFFEE MASTER CLASS

Rwanda is famous for Mountain Gorillas, recovery post genocide and rich culture but did you know Rwanda has some of the finest specialty coffee in the world.  High altitudes, high rainfall and volcanic soil are perfect conditions for growing coffee and Rwanda has all of these Question Coffee is the leading producer, roaster and exporter in Rwanda and they will host you for a 2-hour coffee master class where you will learn about.

Later after this amazing activity  you will be transferred to Kigali Genocide Memorial and Museum.

Kigali Genocide Memorial 

This is an extremely moving, challenging, educational and ultimately inspiring memorial and great place to understand the cause, tragedy and successful rebuilding post genocide.  The reconciliation and rebuilding has been miraculous and these memorials are built to inform, educate and prevent such a tragedy to ever occur again.

The tour is very transparent and educational but very somber and humbling when you realize that over 250,000 deceased are buried on the site of the memorial.  Guaranteed you will feel every emotional during this visit. 

The most common question that goes through your mind is “would I be capable of that level of forgiveness if I found myself in this situation”.  That’s true inspiration and this will take for like 1 -2 hours. After this activity we will transfer you to Hotel Des Mille Collines for a hot lunch  before transferring you to your Hotel for checking in for Dinner and overnight  at Kigali Serena Hotel.

Day 2: Akagera National Park

TRANSFER TO AKAGERA NATIONAL PARK

Today after your break fast, the Wilderness Magashi Camp  driver will meet you at Serena Hotel Reception for your transfer to Akagera National Park. With a detailed briefing of the day. Leaving Serena Hotel, Kigali at 8:30am you will make your way through beautiful and scenic villages and countryside as you take the 3 hours transfer to Rwanda's very own Big 5 Safari park, Akagera National Park.

The last hour of the journey will be through the park itself, so you will be able to spot game straight away.

On arrival the Magashi team will warmly welcome you,, assist you with check in  and brief you on the camp and activities.

The choice is now yours to either relax and freshen up at the lakeside camp or take any two inclusive activities which are part of your package.  Chose between:

Day 3: Akagera National Park

Enjoy Akagera the way you want to.  Take it easy at the camp of partake in one of the inclusive activities:

Day 4: Volcanoes National Park

This morning relax a take a sleep in if you desire as after breakfast we do not have to check out until 10am.

Then we head off on the scenic 2.5-hour drive to Musanze at the based of the Volcanoes National Park. En route you will discover why Rwanda is called The Land of a Thousand Hills. 

On arrival we will check in and have lunch before proceeding around 2pm to the nearby Iby’wacu Cultural Village.  This village is an exhibition of traditional Rwandan life, pre-colonialism.  Not only does it display Rwandan culture beautifully, but the village is staffed by ex-poachers thus providing them with alternative income and becoming productive members of society.  Rwanda really has on the most interesting and colorful cultures in Africa and you will enjoy the artisans, traditional huts, singers and dancers.

After Iby'Iwacu Cultural Village experience, we proceed for an amazing behind the scenes experience with The Gorilla Doctors.  The professional veterinarians and conservationists play a huge role in ensuring future population growth’s by treating injured and sick Mountain Gorillas.  Think about it, if your population is only 1063 in the entire world how devastating an unchecked illness could be.  They will show you a presentation of their history, work and achievements and also educate you on the behavior’s and language of the Mountain Gorilla.  This adds huge value to your trek tomorrow.

Day 5: Volcanoes National Park

Today you have a unique and privileged experience to trek and meet at close quarters the rare Mountain Gorilla.  There are only around 1063 of these magnificent creatures left in the world with around 1/3 of those in Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda.

Early in the morning after breakfast you will be taken to the park headquarters where you will be educated on the trek, Gorilla behavior and assigned in to groups of suitable fitness. 

The trek can take between 2-6 hours depending on the movements of the Gorillas.  This is considered one of the great natural animal encounters on the planet.

The rangers will lead you deep into the forest in search for the Gorillas. You will move up and down the rugged terrain until you finally meet these harmonious creatures that will entertain you with performances for about 1 hour once you find them.

Afterwards we return  to your lodge for lunch.

Day 6: End of Itinerary

After and early breakfast we leave for the Golden Monkey Trek at 7 am.  Golden Monkeys are very rare and nowhere in Africa is there better access to large habituated numbers than in Rwanda.

These unique, playful and beautiful creatures will entertain you for a good hour and the trek on average is normally much easier than the Gorilla Trek.

After the trek return to your lodge for a freshen up and check out by around 11am.   We then take the 2.5 hour transfer back to Kigali stopping for a private picnic overlooking the land of a thousand hills..

Arriving in Kigali around 1:30pm,   Then we transfer you to Kimironko Market to your final activity of the day, As your flight doesn't leave until the late evening we will take you to dinner at one of Kigali’s very good restaurants before transferring you to Kigali Airport for your flight home.
