Meet your driver guide and head to the south of the island along its eastern shore line. The road crosses a number of picturesque villages, drives through tropical jungle, along a number of superb beaches where it is always time for a swim. Provided the sky is clear you might even see Cao Grande.
Your guide will be able to recommend a nice restaurant en route to the south. No matter how informal the place, they usually have excellent grilled fish from the days catch! They also master the art of preparing octopus and there is always a nice and cold beer in the fridge!

The Equator line is only a 15 minutes boat trip across the water to the island of Rolas. The local community also offers boat excursions to explore the fauna and flora of the nearby mangroves. In season, some of the beaches offer excellent turtle watching opportunities. The south is also a good starting point to go hiking or do some serious birding.

The next few days are meant to enjoy the north-eastern side of the island around Ponta Figo, Neves, Monte Forte, etc. This is also the steep side of the island where the old volcanic basalt rocks color the beaches black.
