Days 1 - 4: Lower Zambezi

You will be met on arrival at Royal airstrip by our safari guide for a game drive transfer to your camp, stopping en-route to photograph the many species of wildlife you'll encounter right from the moment the plane lands.

All inclusive Chongwe Safaris is one of the oldest and most established companies in the Lower Zambezi. Our safari is a unique and unforgettable experience, a real home away from home - a place where you can unwind and switch off from the rest of the world.

With day and night drives, boat cruises, walking safaris and canoeing for viewing wildlife from a more natural perspective.

The Lower Zambezi is also widely known as one of the best places to catch (and release) a tiger fish or two.

You can put your feet up on our furniture... curl up on the plump cushions with a good book and not bother about appearances... Relax! It's the only thing we insist upon at Chongwe.

Expert tips

The Lower Zambezi River is a beautiful place. Nestled between the Zambezi River and the blue hills of the Zambezi Escarpment, is the Lower Zambezi National Park. On the opposite bank is the world famous Mana Pools National Park. There is not a day that goes by when there is not something interesting to do and see in this area. The activities on offer are many, one of the best range of choices of things to do of any safari area in Africa.

Due to the rains from November to March, many of the safari camps in the area are closed. The exception is Kasaka River Camp which we keep open in Nov, Dec, Jan and June. We are able to do this due to the site which is high above the river, on a pretty cliff edge. This is one of only two camps open on the Lower Zambezi River during the southern hemisphere summer.
