Arrival in Windhoek

You’ll be picked up at the airport by your tour guide and driven to Guesthouse Voigtland, in the middle of the African bush. Here you can relax in the garden and at the pool, from where there is a beautiful view of the surrounding farmland. Depending on the time of arrival, you can book a farm tour on site (optional), or simply indulge in a delicious dinner that evening.

Day 2: Sossusvlei

Enjoy your first morning in Namibia with a sumptuous breakfast before driving, via Rehoboth, into the Namib Desert and Le Mirage Lodge. As the name of the lodge suggests, your accommodation today looks like a mirage from afar, but the closer you get, the more obvious it becomes that you’re staying in a fort. In the inner courtyard, you’ll be surprised by a lush green garden with a wonderfully refreshing swimming pool.

Day 3: Sossusvlei

Sossusvlei

Today you have to get up early to drive to Sesriem and a visit to the highest dunes in the world at Sossusvlei. As the sun is still quite low in the morning, the high dunes shimmer golden, yellow and reddish on one side, but are dark and shadowy on the other, making the dune ridge stand out razor-sharp. A short hike will take you to the photogenic Dead Vlei with its dead tree trunks. 

We can also climb the highest dune in the area, "Big Daddy" and get rewarded at the top with a breathtaking view. On the way back to the lodge, and a chance to relax and reflect, your tour guide will stop off to show you the interesting Sesriem Canyon.

Day 4: Swakopmund

To Swakopmund

Today you pass the Gaub and Kuiseb Canyons and cross the central Namib Desert. On the way you are sure to see ostriches, but maybe also springboks, zebras, and oryx antelopes. Via Walvis Bay you reach the coastal town of Swakopmund, where you’ll spend the night in a guesthouse overlooking the ocean. The town center with its numerous cafés and restaurants is within walking distance, and dinner will be in a restaurant right by the sea.

Day 5: Swakopmund

In the morning, you take a very interesting boat trip in the Walvis Bay lagoon, where you can see seals, dolphins, flamingos, and pelicans. There are many activities to choose from in the afternoon (optional), including: enjoying the beach, visiting the museum, aquarium, or crystal gallery, or quad biking in the dunes. A sightseeing flight along the coast can also be booked (all optional). Talk to your tour guide to work out what’s best for you.

Day 6: Erongo Mountains

You bid farewell to the sea and drive to the Erongo Mountains today, along the way looking north to see the majestic Spitzkoppe, also known as the Matterhorn of Namibia, which rises 600 meters above the plain. Your lodge is nestled between bizarre granite rock formations.

Day 7: Etosha South

To Etosha National Park

Today you want to get to the Etosha National Park as quickly as possible. The park is one of the largest animal reserves in the world and is considered one of the most outstanding game parks in Africa. Animals are attracted by the Etosha Pan, a huge depression that is rarely filled with rainwater, but which has many waterholes at its edge where numerous animals and birds can be found all year round. You guide will take you on game drives around Okaukuejo, and in the evening, you can watch the comings and goings at the floodlit waterhole.

Day 8: Etosha East

Drive through the eastern Etosha National Park

With the whole day available for exciting game viewing, you can explore Etosha’s many different waterholes, looking out for giraffe, kudu, zebra, oryx antelope, black-nosed impala, wildebeest, springbok, ostrich, and with a bit of luck, even lions and elephants. In the evening, you leave the park in an easterly direction and, just a few kilometers from the exit, reach the beautiful Mushara Lodge with its tastefully furnished bungalows. You can round off the day with a delicious dinner.

Day 9: Etosha East

You have the choice today to once again enjoy the abundance of wildlife in Etosha, or to instead relax and enjoy the tranquillity of the beautiful lodge before indulging in more delicacies from the kitchen.

Day 10: Rundu

Trip to Rundu

Today you enter the most densely populated part of Namibia, the Okavango. On the way, you’ll see picturesque round huts inhabited by the local people of the Kavango tribe. Your accommodation today resembles a remote paradise - hidden among lush vegetation on the banks of the Okavango. Here you find both untouched nature and the comfort of a beautiful lodge. An unforgettable sunset boat cruise awaits you with a view of Angola on the other side of the river.

Day 11: Okavango River

At the Okavango

Having been woken by birdsong, you continue eastwards to the Caprivi today, from time to time, spotting the kraals of the Kavango and the thatch traders selling sheaves of straw along the road to build roofs for the huts. Your next lodge is built among large, old trees, right on the banks of the Okavango itself. You are already expected for lunch, and in the afternoon another sunset boat cruise is booked for you.

Day 12: Okavango River

Mahango National Park

Today your tour guide will take you to the Mahango National Park, one of Africa’s most beautiful parks, and home to lots of interesting wildlife. You’ll hopefully get to see buffalo, elephant, hippo, and maybe even the rare sable antelope before you drive back to the lodge. A peaceful, and very quiet night lies before you, with the huffing and puffing of hippos, the only thing to be heard.

Day 13: Kwando River

You cross the Okavango and continue through the Bwabwata Park to your lodge, which is situated on the east side of the Kwando River. From the wooden deck of the lodge, you have a direct view of the river. After lunch there is a chance to relax a little before taking a boat trip on the Kwando and getting to experience "pure Africa".

Day 14: Kwando River

Bwabwata National Park

Today you go on a game drive in the Bwabwata Game Park, where you’re sure to see elephant as the region around the Kwando River is considered to have the highest concentration of them in southern Africa. The landscape around the “Horseshoe” is particularly interesting and in your free time in the afternoon, you may want to try your hand at fishing on the Kwando or simply enjoy the typical African atmosphere at the lodge.

Day 15: Chobe River Front Namibia

To the Chobe River

Drive to Katima Mulilo, where your tour guide says goodbye. Don't worry - all further transfers are organized, and you’ll be driven to Kasane in Botswana, where a representative of Zovu Elephant Lodge will be waiting at the Kasane Immigration Office. After a short boat trip, you reach the lodge on an island in the Chobe River. In the afternoon you can take a boat cruise, during which you’re sure to see many elephants, crocodiles, hippos, and various interesting water birds.

Day 16: Chobe River Front Namibia

Chobe National Park

Today you go on a game drive in Chobe National Park, where you should again see many elephants, possibly hundreds, wandering to the river to quench their thirst. The drive along the riverbank promises numerous wildlife experiences, as there are around 80,000 elephants, numerous hippos, and thousands of buffalo. The buffalo are usually only seen in the early morning or late afternoon though, when they leave the bush to quench their thirst at the river. After lunch, you can look out over the Chobe River from the lodge before taking another boat cruise in the afternoon

Day 17: Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)

Victoria Falls

After breakfast, you’ll be taken back to Kasane and then transferred to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. Your lodge is in a quiet part of town, surrounded by lush green gardens, but the lively city center is within walking distance. You will certainly want to visit the world-famous waterfalls in the afternoon, where huge masses of water cascade over a 110-metre cliff face over a width of 1708 meters. A breathtaking spectacle!

Day 18: End of Itinerary

In the morning, there is the chance to undertake various activities (optional) before being transferred to the airport and your departure in the early afternoon.
