Mount Nebo

Mount Nebo is the mountain mentioned in the bible where Moses was granted a view of the Holy Land, but was not allowed to enter it. Nowadays the mountain is a memorial site where the "Church of Moses" stands. Ever since the first days of Christianity this mountain has been a holy place and a destination for pilgrimage. From here, enjoy a magnificent view over Jordan, the Dead Sea and Israel. When the weather is clear, you may even be able to see Jerusalem, which is about 60 kilometres (37 miles) away.

Afterwards, continue to Madaba, approximately 15 minutes' drive from Mt. Nebo.

Madaba

South of Amman proudly stands Madaba, the "City of Mosaics", perched on an archaeological site with more than 4,000 years of history buried beneath it. The quality and quantity of the mosaic flooring found here has made Madaba one of the most prominent cities in the world for mosaics. St. George's Church houses a world-famous mosaic floor containing a large mosaic map of Palestine, which also features a detailed map of Jerusalem as it was during the sixth century. At the Church of the Apostles, at the southern entrance of the city, is a mosaic floor attributed to the craftsman Salamanios, depicting the sea, with the central figure of a woman encircled with a selection of creatures, vegetation and an inscription.

Lunch

Your lunch will be served at Haret Jdoudna Restaurant.

Haret Jdoudna represents an authentic village in the city of Madaba, offering everything from amazing traditional food, to entertainment, to local crafts, mosaics and souvenirs. The restaurant is a 19th century house, still with its original features and floors. The exquisite menu offers local mezza dishes, oven-baked delicacies and traditional home-made meals. The restaurant also hosts special events with oriental music and entertainment. During the winter months you can relax by the fireplace, accompanied by soothing music and a hot cup of mint tea

Shobak

Shobak castle has a long and distinguished history that reached its peak during Crusader times. The magnificent fortress was constructed in AD 1115 by Baldwin I, as a link in the great chain of crusader strongholds across Jordan. The fortress, known as Mont Realis (or Montreal) guarded the crucial Damascus to Cairo trade route.

Then proceed to Petra.

Petra

A worldwide wonder, Petra is without doubt Jordan’s most valuable treasure and the greatest tourist attraction. It is a vast, unique city, carved into the sheer rock face by the Nabataeans, an industrious Arab civilisation who settled here more than 2000 years ago. They turned the site into an important junction for the silk, spice and other trade routes that linked China, India, and southern Arabia with Egypt, Syria, Greece, and Rome. Entrance to the city is through the Siq, a narrow gorge, over 1 km in length, which is flanked on either side by soaring, 80m high cliffs. Just walking through the Siq is an experience in itself. The colours and formations of the rocks are dazzling. As you reach the end of the Siq you will catch your first glimpse of Al-Khazneh (Treasury).

Optional: Nabatean Cave Bar

Upon arrival into Petra - and before exploring this UNESCO World Heritage Site - enjoy dinner inside a Nabatean Cave. At the entrance to Petra you find the Petra Guest House and Hotel and next to this, inside an original Nabatean tomb, is the Cave Bar. Inside ancient burial niches, cozy tables of two or three line the perimeter of the cave whereas larger tables can be found in the center. A unique dining experience, surrounded by original Nabatean stonework.

Day 4: Wadi Musa

Petra

Enjoy your breakfast at your hotel in Petra then proceed to visit Petra.

Begin your visit with an optional horse ride from the main gate of Petra to the entrance of the old city. Then walk on foot along to the Siq (entrance). The ancient city of Petra was built between 800 BC to AD 100 by Nabatean Arabs. In this era Petra was a fortress, carved out of the jagged rocks in an area, which was virtually inaccessible. In the first and second century, after the Romans invaded, the city reached the peak of its fame.

Petra covers an area of about 100 square kilometres (62 miles), where over 800 monuments can be found. When shipping slowly displaced caravan routes, the city's importance gradually dwindled and it fell into disuse and was lost to the world until 1812, when it was re-discovered by the Swiss explorer Johann Ludwig Burkhart. Nowadays Petra is a popular tourist attraction, known as the "rose-red city half as old as time". The Khazneh (the Treasury), featured in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

Lunch

Your lunch will be served at Basin Restaurant.

Located about 2 km (1 mile) inside the gates of Petra, the Basin Restaurant by the Crowne Plaza Petra stands amongst all the splendour of Petra. Already quite a trek to get to the restaurant, this is a great place to stop and rest your tired feet. There are very few places to eat once inside Petra, in fact, most visitors buy snack food off the local Bedouins. Luckily, the Basin Restaurant provides a more hearty meal to ensure that you are ready to keep exploring this wonderful city!

Day 5: Wadi Rum

Enjoy your breakfast at your hotel then proceed to visit Little Petra.

Little Petra

Little Petra was inhabited by the Nabataeans and has lots of tombs, water containers and channels, it has a small path that leads to some of the inside area, Siq al Bared. The scale of this area and the fact that it is a continuation of Petra gave it the name Little Petra and is easily accessible by taxi or rented car. It is literally hidden away in the center of a mountain.

Your lunch will be served at AlQantarah Restaurant.

Then proceed to Wadi Rum.

Wadi Rum

Otherwise known as Valley of the Moon, Wadi Rum is the largest - and most magnificent - of Jordan's desert landscapes and has been virtually untouched by humans. A maze of monolithic rock formations rises up from the desert floor to heights of 1,750 meters (5,740 feet), creating a natural challenge for serious mountaineers. However, Wadi Rum may be best known for its connection with British officer T. E. Lawrence, who passed through several times during the Arab Revolt of 1917-18. In the 1980s one of the rock formations in Wadi Rum was named "The Seven Pillars of Wisdom" after Lawrence's book penned in the aftermath of the war, although the 'Seven Pillars' referred to in the book have no connection with Rum.

Enjoy a two-hour excursion of Wadi Rum in a four-wheel-drive vehicle. Please note that this excursion is conducted on board a basic, but comfortable, vehicle, which is operated by a local charity foundation. All money generated through these tours helps support the livelihood of the local Bedouins.

Enjoy your dinner and your stay at your camp.

Day 6: Swemeh

Enjoy your breakfast at your hotel in Wadi Rum then proceed to Baptism Site

Bethany

Excavations conducted at Bethany uncovered an A.D first Century settlement featuring plastered pools and water systems, which were almost certainly used for mass baptisms. Also uncovered here was a fifth century Byzantine settlement with churches, a monastery and other structures which likely catered to religious pilgrims.

A survey made about the site has documented an ancient sacred pilgrimage route that linked

Jerusalem, the Jordan River and Bethany, which was known as "beyond the Jordan" in the Gospels. This was to separate it from the "within the Jordan” locations, namely Jerusalem, the Holy Land and Mount Nebo.

The  travel time is approximately  3.15 Hours from Petra to the Dead Sea.

Then proceed to Dead Sea to enjoy your day at leisure.

Day 7: Swemeh

The Dead Sea

The Dead Sea has a historical and spiritual legacy of its own. It is believed to be the site of five biblical cities: Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, Zeboiim and Zoar (Bela). At 400 meters below sea level, the Dead Sea is infinite in what it has to offer. Ever since the days of Herod the Great, people have flocked to the Dead Sea in search of its curative secrets. Due to high annual temperatures, low humidity and high atmospheric pressure, the air is extremely exogenous, and the high content of oxygen and magnesium in the air make breathing a lot easier. With the highest content of minerals and salts in the world, the Dead Sea water possesses anti-inflammatory properties, and the dark mud found on the shores have been used for over 2000 years for therapeutic purposes.

Amman City Tour

The Citadel towers above the city from atop Jabal al-Qala'a, making it an excellent vantage point to appreciate the cityscape below. The Citadel is the site of ancient Rabbath-Ammon and excavations here have revealed numerous Roman, Byzantine and early Islamic remains. The most impressive building of the Citadel, known simply as al-Qasr (the Palace), dates back to the Islamic Umayyad period. Its exact function is unclear, but it includes a monumental gateway, an audience hall and four vaulted chambers. A colonnaded street also runs through the complex. To the north and northeast are the ruins of Umayyad palace grounds

Downhill from the Citadel and five minutes' walk east from downtown, the Roman Theater is the most prominent and impressive relic of ancient Philadelphia. The theater, which was built during the reign of Antonius Pius (AD 138-161), is cut into the northern side of a hill that once served as a necropolis or graveyard. It is very similar in design to the amphitheater at Jerash and can accommodate 6,000 spectators. The theater is still used periodically for sporting and cultural events.

Located near the Roman Theatre, presents the traditional Jordanian life, including costumes, home furnishings, musical instruments and handicrafts dating back to the 19th Century.
