The Real South African Safari

Upon arrival at Bulawayo Airport you will be met by your private driver from Amalinda Lodge who will transfer you to the Lodge. You will be given the opportunity to settle in, freshen up, explore and enjoy a scrumptious tea and lunch before heading out into to the wild on your afternoon safari. You will return to the lodge just in time to enjoy a lovely dinner around the fire

1. Sunrise morning game drive with a selection of hot drinks and snacks en-route accompanied by a professional guide and spotter.
2. After the game drive you will be taken back to the lodge where a scrumptious breakfast will be awaiting you.
3. After lunch you will get to the opportunity to go on a cultural village tour. You will take a tour to an African homestead and get down to earth with the local Matabele people. Enjoy their gracious hospitality as they show you around their “pole and dagga” huts. Use this opportunity to get an insight into the way of life for the local people and to experience their culture. You will get to visit a clinic, traditional healer and local primary school.
4. After your tour you will return to the lodge to freshen up and enjoy a lovely African dinner.

Amalinda Lodge offers guests a number of activities to fill up their afternoons so you have the afternoon to spend at your leisure, you can choose from the following activities that can be discussed with the lodge staff (some do require an additional fee payable at the lodge):

• Rhino Tracking by Vehicle or Foot
• Explore the sites of San Bushman Cave Paintings
• Visit the world-famous tomb of Cecil John Rhodes
• Relax beside our infinity rock pool
• Walks/Hikes around Amalinda Lodge

After breakfast you will be met by your private driver and transferred to Imbabala lodge. Once you are settled (depending on arrival time) you will meet a professional guide and spotter for an afternoon game drive. Using an open four-wheel drive vehicle, the game drive allows you to discover many interpretations of the bush and all its inhabitants, related to them by our suitable trained and qualified guides. This is an uncontrived bush experience, covering a genuinely wild, unfenced wilderness area.

1. Enjoy a morning game drive with some hot drinks and the sunrise. Afterwards you will be taken back to the lodge where a scrumptious breakfast will be awaiting you.
2. Embark on a spectacular morning tour of the Falls. Proudly referred to as Mosi-oa-Tunya or 'The Smoke that Thunders' by the locals; Victoria Falls has a combined width of 1,7 kilometres (approx. 1 mile) and height of 100 metres (330 feet), making it one of the world’s largest waterfalls and one of the seven natural wonders of the world. Remember your raincoats! – it does get quite wet.
3. Imbabala has a number of amazing activities to fill up your days at the lodge that can be booked through the front desk:

After your early morning game drive and breakfast you will be met be your driver and transferred to Chobe Bush Lodge.  Upon arrival at the lodge you will be greeted by the friendly staff who will assist you with settling in before enjoying a delicious meal and game viewing experience.

After an early morning wake up call by a soft knock and animal sounds you will get to enjoy a delicious fresh coffee or hot tea and a morning snack (often homemade muffins), followed by an exciting morning safari activity, you will return back to the lodge in time for a scrumptious full breakfast.

You will have the afternoon at leisure before lunch followed by a guided walking tour.  You will also embark on an afternoon game viewing activity (either a drive, motorized boat trip or fishing) followed by sundowners and dinner at the lodge. 

Don’t worry if you are not much of a morning person; there is plenty of time for napping later in the day. We can also guarantee that the minute you are awakened by the sound of birds and hippos calling, you will become an early bird yourself. If you still don’t feel like waking up early, some lodges offer late morning game drives. Or simply enjoy the view from your own deck and wait for the afternoon game drive. 

After breakfast - depending on your international flight time, you will be met by your private driver who will transfer you to Kasane Airport where you will board a flight to Johannesburg International Airport, you will get to savor your last South African moments before boarding your flight back home.
