Day 1: Entebbe

After clearing the entry formalities for Uganda you will be met in the arrivals area and transferred to the lodge which is not far away, so you can settle in, relax and get your bearings after your flight here.

 

Day 2: Kasese

After breakfast today, you will be transferred back to the airport for your flight to Kasese. Once in Kasese, you have a road transfer to Sandton Hotel to have a good night's rest before your adventurous trek of the Rwenzori Mountains begins. 

 

Day 3: Rwenzori Mountains

Today you will be transferred to the Trekkers Hostel in Kilembe, here you will be briefed by the guides on your journey ahead. This first day of trekking takes you up an elevation of 1684m to your first camp - Kalalama. 

  

Day 4: Rwenzori Mountains

Today you hike to Bugata Camp - a more challenging portion of the trek as you navigate steep ridges, a few muddy sections and high steps but filled with great variety of flora, waterfalls and streams to cool off in. 

  

Day 5: Rwenzori Mountains

You will hike to Hunwick’s camp today (3,974 meters), via Bamwanjara pass, which offers excellent views of the main mountain peaks. 

Day 6: Rwenzori Mountains

During todays hike you will cross the valley floor to Lake Kitandara which is very stunning with deep water and beautiful vegetation. You will then climb up through Scoot Elliot pass to your destinatiom Margherita camp (at 4,485 meters).

Day 7: Rwenzori Mountains

This is a very early start with a wake up call at 2:00am to have breakfast and set off to climb Mt Stanley - going through its glaciers to the summit of Margherita peak at 5,109metres. You will then descend down to Hunwicks camp at 3,974 meters for the night. 

Day 8: Rwenzori Mountains

Today you descend down to Kiharo camp (at 3,430 meters), hiking through Oliver’s pass. Kiharo camp is set in a deep valley with high cliffs and dense vegetation.

Day 9: Kasese

After breakfast, you will descend down the hill, past the moss-covered rocks along rivers and beautiful forests, back to the basecamp in Kilembe - this will be 6 to 9hrs of walking. Once back in Kilembe there will be a debriefing, time to refresh and awarding of certificates. From here you will be transferred back to Sandton Hotel for a well deserved rest. 

 

Day 10: End of Itinerary

After breakfast, you will be transferred back to Entebbe by air for your outbound flight back home.
