7-day Cape Garden Route Circular Trip

Day 1: Swellendam

Depart Cape Town this morning and enjoy a leisurely drive to Swellendam which is situated half way between Cape Town and the Garden Route. 

We can recommend a stop along the way at Cape Agulhas, this is where the official meeting point is of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans and is also the most Southern Tip of Africa.

Day 2: Knysna

Today continue your drive to the Garden Route. Some recommended stops along the way are Albertinia which is famous for its aloe production and there are some factories you can stop to visit on the road side. Mossel Bay also has an interesting history and there are some lovely places to have lunch while overlooking the ocean. 

Arrive in Knysna in the afternoon and check-in at your accommodation, use the rest of the afternoon and evening to explore. We can also recommend a sunset cruise or sail on the Knysna Lagoon. 

Day 3: Knysna

This morning we can highly recommend the Featherbed Nature Reserve Eco Experience. 
There are lots of fun and interesting activities to do in and around Knysna, we are happy to recommend based on your interests. 

Day 4: Knysna

Today we suggest you drive a little further along the Garden Route to Plettenberg Bay and even further along to Tsitsikamma and if you are an adrenalin junkie the highest bungee jump in the World at Bloukrans! Plettenberg Bay offers a range of interesting animal sanctuaries to visit for the wildlife enthusiast, also there are boat trips to look for whales (May-November) and dolphins and some wonderful hiking trails for all levels.

Day 5: Oudtshoorn

Today travel over the spectacular Outeniqua Pass and into the Klein Karoo region to the town of Oudtshoorn, famous for its ostriches and Cango Caves. We can recommend a visit to Safari Ostrich Showfarm and a Heritage Tour at the Cango Caves. 

In the evening why not look for the High Five on a star gazing experience! The night skies are beautiful in this part of the world.

Day 6: Oudtshoorn

Today we can highly recommend a guided tour over the Swartberg Pass, which also includes an optional hike, with a stop for lunch in the lovely little town of Prince Albert. This can be done with a step-on guide if you have a 4x4 or suitbale vehicle, or as a fully guided tour.

Day 7: End of Itinerary

Today you will drive back to Cape Town along the World's Longest Wine Route - Route 62 whcih has several interesting stops along the way, so take the drive slowly and stop to explore.
