After breakfast, you will head to Kicker Rock or León Dormido, named after its characteristic shape similar to a boot or sleeping lion. It offers a dramatic sight with the remains of a volcanic tuff cone rising almost 148 m straight up out of the ocean. Erosion has split the rock into two parts, forming a narrow channel between. Circumnavigation provides the visitor with the best views of the rock. Blue-footed boobies, Nazca boobies, frigate birds, and sea lions line the shore.
Next up is a visit to Lobos Island, named after its large colony of sea lions. Visitors can observe and potentially interact with sea lion pups, especially while snorkeling. In addition, you may see blue-footed boobies, frigates, and even a catch glimpse of the islands’ second type of sea lion: The Fur Sea Lion.
In the afternoon, you will visit Witch Hill. Explore the eroded remains of a volcanic tuff cone and one of the first sites visited by Charles Darwin. Captain Fitzroy climbed to the top of the hill to scout out reefs. The favorite attraction here is the gorgeous white sand beach; a wonderful place to swim, snorkel or take a walk along the shoreline.
Early in the morning head to the beautiful beach at Gardner Bay, an important breeding site for pacific green turtles. But the main attraction is the Galapagos sea lion colony, along with marine iguanas, and Galapagos Hawks. At this point you can also snorkel over to Gardner Islet and Osborn Islet that are nearby. After lunch, we visit Suarez Point, a basaltic cliff which forms a blowhole where water sprays high into the air, and where you can see sea lions, sea birds, marine Iguanas, and nesting boobies & albatross. After this activity, return to the yacht for dinner.
Early in the morning, head to Floreana Island where our first stop will be Cormorant Point. Here you will be welcomed by a small Galapagos sea lion colony, and visit two beaches: green sand beach that contains olivine crystal, and a flour sand beach made up of finer white coral sand. You may also spot stingrays along the shore. Then, you will have the chance to snorkel at Champion Islet.
After lunch, we go to Post Office bay, established in 1793 by British whalers to send letters to and from England, and even today, visitors have the opportunity to send letters of their own. If the weather is good you may also have the opportunity to snorkel from the beach. As the last activity, you will visit the Baroness Viewpoint, the ideal place to take in the unique scenery that defines Floreana, and to learn about the intriguing history of the island, once inhabited by an indulgent baroness and her three lovers. End of the day and dinner.
