Safari to the clouds

Welcome to Salta! Upon arrival at the airport, you will meet your guide who will transfe you to your selected hotel. In the afternoon, prepare yourself to discover this charming city in a Half Day City Tour. You will discover why it is called "Salta La Linda" by visiting its main churches and historical monuments: Old Cabildo (Town Hall), Cathedral, San Francisco Church, San Bernardo Convent. Dont forget your camera because you will have  a stunning panoramic  view from San Bernardo Hill. You will also visit the Handicraft market and San Lorenzo Village – summer borough located 12 minutes drive from downtown.

After this tour, you will return to the Hotel and get prepared for another amazing day ahead.

Today, you will enjoy a Full day Safari to the Clouds following the famous railway track of the "Train to the Clouds" through the “Quebrada del Toro” (Bull’s Gorge) up to San Antonio de los Cobres.  Drive  through the Puna (highland plateaus) along route 40 up to “Salinas Grandes” (Salt Flats). If you are a photography lover, here you will be in your element!

Continue the downhill trip of Lipan to the picturesque village of Purmamarca, at the base of the well known "Mount of the Seven Colors" and where you will spend the night.

Drive north by the Rio Grande (Grand River) on the spectacular trip of the "Quebrada de Humahuaca" (Humahuaca Gorge) where you will be invited to immerse yourself in the landscapes and the culture of its towns.

You will visit Tilcara´s amazing indigenous fortress, Huacalera and monument indicating Tropic of Capricorn, Uquía hosting the oldest chapel of the region and Humahuaca, old omaguacas native settlement located at 2940m. On the way back visit of San Salvador de Jujuy: its Cathedral, Old Cabildo (Town all),  Government House and National Flag room. You will spend tonight in Salta.  

, you are invited to a Full day safari to the Calchaquí Valleys, where the highlights are the Stunning Landscapes and the Argentine Wine. All in one tour!

Drive uphill  "Cuesta del Obispo" (Bishop’s Heights) and across "Los Cardones National Park"- with hundreds of giant cactus- to the ancient town of Cachi.  The tour will Continue through a very narrow and picturesque path to the fertile valleys of the Calchaqui River and across the extraordinary “Quebrada de Las Flechas” (Arrow’s gorge).  You will pass through the small towns of Molinos, Angastaco, Payogasta  and San Carlos to reach Cafayate. Later, you will  vi  sit the vineyards and the wineries  to  learn about the main agricultural activity of the Valleys: the vine growing. You will spend tonight in Cafayate. 

Now its time to return to Salta through the marvelous scenery of the Conchas River. You will not believe your eyes discovering its fascinating colorful rock formations. Most of the rocks  have been worn into the shapes of familiar objects like an obelisk or a toad. Will you be able to identify them? You will spend tonight in Salta. 

Today, you will have the day off at leisure. A visit to the High Country Archaeological Museum (MAAM) to observe the mummies of the sleeping children of Llullaillaco is highly recommended.

A transfer will picke you up at scheduled time to take you to the airport to board your flight to your next destination.
