COVID-19: ACTIVITIES & SERVICES

Day 1: The Waterberg Biosphere

WEDNESDAY Your tour representative will meet you upon your arrival at Johannesburg OR Tambo International Airport and take you 3 hours away to malaria-free, Big 5, Kaingo Game Reserve. It is situated in the Waterberg Region, one of the few UNESCO-recognised biosphere reserves on the planet and the world's only savanna biosphere reserve. On arrival, a light lunch awaits at this traditional safari lodge, built from natural stone, thatch roofs, and an old world-Africa atmosphere. After settling in, enjoy a sunset game drive to experience the twilight beauty of the African bush and its wild creatures. Then it’s back to the lodge for dinner accompanied by the unparalleled orchestra and chorus of the wild African night, making your first night in the bush unforgettable.

Day 3: The Waterberg Biosphere

FRIDAY  The iconic and most dangerous wild animals of Africa – lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard – are at home in malaria-free Kaingo Game Reserve, but so too are over 50 other mammal species and over 350 different types of birds. Also, Royal Morubisi is just 55km from the centre of the Waterberg Region and has the mighty Mokolo River weaving through its breathtaking landscapes. Daily sunrise and sunset game drives are the best way to experience the reserve’s spectacular scenery and extraordinary wildlife. Each game drive is unique and unpredictable. Sunset game drives include stopping for "Sundowners" as the sun sets and serves as an aperitif before dinner. Under the Southern night sky awash with stars and glimmering constellations not seen in the Northern Hemisphere, dinner (maybe in the boma, maybe in the bush, and maybe with your fish on the grill) will be a truly memorable experience.

Day 5: Kruger Private Reserves

SUNDAY Tshukudu Private Game Reserve is home to some of the most endangered wildlife in Africa - lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard. Other but equally fascinating wildlife, such as the shy, spiral-horned nyala and the not-so-shy vervet monkeys, are only 2 of the myriad of species that live in the environs of Tshukudu Private Game Reserve. It’s a paradise for wildlife enthusiasts, not to mention twitchers. Apart from the four-legged creatures, there are 477 species of birds in the Greater Kruger area, from Little Grebes to Goliath Herons, Pink-backed Pelicans to Lappet Faced Vultures, as well sparrow hawks, falcons and quail. After your sunrise game drive and breakfast, you will have the rest of the afternoon to relax. A delicious High Tea before your first sunset game drive is the perfect introduction to life, sophisticated and wild, at Tshukudu. You will have plenty of time to freshen up before dinner once you return to the Lodge.

Day 6: Kruger Private Reserves

MONDAY It has been said that even an hour in paradise is a rewarding experience. This can also be true of Africa's greatest wildlife sanctuary, the Kruger National Park. An hour is rewarding, but a whole day is a life-changing experience. For an authentic safari experience, our full-day Kruger safari will give you an unbelievable overview of this iconic destination. Game viewing from open safari vehicles in Kruger has to be one of the ultimate safari experiences in Africa. Doing this in a day is ideal for those with limited time available. If the weather permits, dinner at the Lodge will be in the outdoor boma, around the fire, under the star-filled African sky.

Day 7: Kruger Private Reserves

TUESDAY Dawn in the African bush is special. There’s something magical about the air and the scent of the wild places. It holds a promise of something unexpected and memorable just around the corner. Early morning game drives are essential if you want to see African animals at their best. Wildlife is most active in the cool early mornings when the dew is still on the ground. They also stir, and hunt when the hot sun is setting behind the Jackleberry trees in the late afternoons, another excellent time for a game drive. Here at Tshukudu, sunset game drives may continue on return to the Lodge into the night, under a brilliant star-studded sky. The scent of the wild deepens, overlaid by the hot perfume of dust. The sounds of the game and the bush itself are more noticeable. Powerful spotlights on the vehicle are the only way to see the unusual nocturnal creatures. Creatures such as the highly endangered pangolins, aardwolves, civets and polecats. The noisy, adorable bushbabies, or Galagos, leap long distances from branch to branch, foraging for insects. An evening spent here, where the wild things are, somehow makes a delicious dinner much more memorable.
