FRIDAY The iconic wild animals of Africa – lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard and rhino – are at home in the malaria-free Kaingo Private Game Reserve, but so too are over 50 other mammal species and more than 350 species of birds. Also, Royal Morubisi is just 55 km from the centre of the Waterberg region and has the mighty Mokolo River weaving through its breathtaking landscapes. Daily sunrise and sunset game drives are the best way to experience the reserve’s spectacular scenery and extraordinary wildlife. Each game drive is unique and unpredictable. Sunset game drives include stopping for “Sundowners” as the sun sets and serves as an aperitif before dinner. As the African night settles in, look up at a southern sky filled with stars and glimmering constellations before enjoying dinner in the boma or perhaps out in the bush – a memorable ending to another day on safari.

SUNDAY Siyela Private Game Lodge is home to some of Africa’s most iconic wildlife – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard. It’s a paradise for wildlife enthusiasts, not to mention twitchers. Apart from the four-legged creatures, there are 477 species of birds in the Greater Kruger area, from Little Grebes to Goliath Herons, Pink-backed Pelicans to Lappet-faced Vultures, as well as sparrowhawks, falcons and quail. After your sunrise game drive and breakfast, you will have the rest of the afternoon to relax. A delicious High Tea before your sunset game drive is the perfect introduction to life, both sophisticated and wild, at Siyela. MONDAY It has been said that even an hour in paradise is a rewarding experience. The same can be said of Africa’s greatest wildlife sanctuary, Kruger National Park. An hour may be rewarding, but a whole day can be an unforgettable experience. Our full-day Kruger safari offers an incredible overview of this iconic destination, with game viewing from an open safari vehicle providing one of Africa’s ultimate safari experiences. Day 7: Hoedspruit

TUESDAY Dawn in the African bush is special. There’s something magical about the air and the scent of the wild places. It holds the promise of something unexpected and memorable just around the corner. Early morning game drives offer the opportunity to see African wildlife at its most active, during the cool morning hours when the dew is still on the ground. Wildlife also stirs and hunts as the hot sun sets behind the jackalberry trees in the late afternoon, another excellent time for a game drive.

Here at Siyela, sunset game drives may continue into the night beneath a brilliant, star-studded sky. As darkness settles over the bush, the scent of the wild deepens, mingling with the warm perfume of dust, while the sounds of the wildlife become more noticeable. Powerful spotlights from the vehicle reveal a different side of the bush and the unusual nocturnal creatures that emerge after dark, including pangolins, aardwolves, civets and polecats. Noisy, adorable bushbabies, or galagos, leap from branch to branch as they forage for insects. An evening spent here, where the wild things are, somehow makes a delicious dinner all the more memorable.
