Day 1: South Luangwa National Park

 On arrival at Lusaka International Airport,  you make your way through immigration and collect your luggage. In the arrivals hall you will be met and assisted to check in for your scheduled flight to Mfuwe.

On arrival in Mfuwe,  you will be met and transferred to Mfuwe Lodge, arriving in time for sundowners.

Set around two lagoons, shaded by the a canopy of ebony and mahogany trees, award-winning Mfuwe Lodge is the perfect place to ease into Luangwa life.

Day 2: South Luangwa National Park

This region of the park is renowned for its prolific game, and giraffe, hippos, buffalo, antelope, and crocodile are constant visitors to Mfuwe Lodge’s lagoon.

Included in the rate are day and night game drives with expert guides.  Walking safaris in one of the top walking areas on the continent to community visits are also available at additional cost, as are local school, village and textile company visits.

In November, the local elephants regularly wander right through the lobby, lured by a nearby wild mango tree.

Day 3: South Luangwa National Park

After breakfast, you depart by vehicle to Bilimungwe Camp, the drive is about 3 to 4 hours in the form of a game drive, arriving in time for  lunch.

Located in the remote southern part of the South Luangwa National Park, and blending in seamlessly with its surroundings, Bilimungwe is situated in a mahogany grove overlooking three waterholes,  near both the Luangwa River and an open plain where leopards prowl.

Days 4 - 5: South Luangwa National Park

You have the next  two days exploring the South Luangwa National Park.

Take advantage of the exceptional knowledge of the exceptional knowledge of the resident guides and head out on day and night game drives, and enjoy sundowners on the river's edge.

Whether you are a seasoned Africa traveller or if this is your first safari, a walking safari is a must.  Besides day and night game drives, the focus at Bilimungwe is the walking safari

In between outings, find a chair and enjoy the wildlife magnets that are Bilimungwe’s three permanent waterholes.

Day 6: Lower Zambezi

This morning you are transferred to Mfuwe Airport in time to connect with a scheduled flight to Jeki airstrip in the Lower Zambezi.

On arrival, you are met by your guide and transferred to Chiawa Camp.

Owned and operated by the Cumings family since it opened in 1989, Chiawa Camp was the first safari camp to be established in the Lower Zambezi National Park.  It offers exceptional game-viewing with good elephant, lion, leopard, and wild dogs.  Game viewing can be done in a diverse range of activities including game drives, game walks, canoeing, boating and angling, all in the company of Africa’s finest guides.

Days 7 - 9: Lower Zambezi

Spend the next three days exploring the Lower Zambezi.

The Lower Zambezi National Park, by virtue of the Zambezi River and its parallel escarpment, is one of Africa’s most scenic wildernesses providing some of Africa’s best safari activities. The Lower Zambezi is home to an impressive quantity and variety of wildlife, for safari experiences viewed not only on the more usual land-based Lower Zambezi activities, but also on a variety of water-based activities, and in the camps themselves.

Chiawa Camp is located in the middle of prime wildlife and habitat zones of the Lower Zambezi National Park, so you usually do not have to travel far to see wildlife. What’s more, often wildlife make their way into camp to visit us, providing out-of-this-world game sightings. Wildlife to be spotted includes elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, waterbuck, hippos and crocodiles.

Your programme will be tailored to suit your interests.  One activity that is a must is either a half or full day canoeing adventure and the Zambezi is the “mother of all” rivers for this activity.

Day 10: End of Itinerary

After breakfast you will be transferred to Jeki airstrip.  Here you connect with a scheduled flight to Lusaka Airport.

On arrival you check in with your onward flight and depart Zambia.
