Day 3: Kamloops

Rocky Mountaineer Vancouver to Kamloops

Board the Rocky Mountaineer train at the Vancouver Station at 7:30am PT. Travel from the coastal city of Vancouver to Kamloops, in the heart of British Columbia's interior. On today's journey you will see dramatic changes in scenery, from the lush green fields of the Fraser Valley, through forests and winding river canyons surrounded by the peaks of the Coast and Cascade Mountains, to the desert-like environment of the BC Interior. Highlights include the rushing waters of Hell's Gate in the Fraser Canyon and the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River. Your day concludes as the Rocky Mountaineer travels along the shores of Kamloops Lake into Kamloops between 6:00pm and 7:30pm PT. Day 4: Banff

Rocky Mountaineer Kamloops to Banff

Board the Rocky Mountaineer train at the Kamloops Station at 6:25am PT, your journey continues eastwards to the mighty Canadian Rockies and the province of Alberta. Once again you will see a spectacular array of scenery as you travel across ranchlands, along rocky lakeshores, over high mountain passes and through the remarkable tunnels that form part of the rich rail history of the Canadian Rockies. Today's highlights include Craigellachie, where the last spike of the Canadian Pacific Railway was driven, the climb over Rogers Pass, Kicking Horse Canyon, theSpiral Tunnels and, of course, the glaciers and snow-capped peaks of the Canadian Rockies. Your rail journey ends this evening upon arrival in Banff, between 7:00pm and 8:30pm MT. B, L.

Day 5: Banff

You'll then be transported to the base of Sulphur Mountain and ride the Banff Gondola to the top at 7,486 feet. Day 7: Jasper

Small Group Tour - Lake Louise to Jasper Tour With Picnic Lunch, Ice Explorer & Glacier Skywalk 09:45am to 7:45pm 

This morning you will depart Lake Louise and drive through the "heart" of the Canadian Rockies to Jasper along the world-famous Icefields Parkway. Rushing waterfalls, crystal-clear rivers, emerald lakes, alpine meadows and snow-capped peaks create an ever-changing montage of mountain wilderness. The entire day is spent in the majesty of Canada's two most famous National Parks, Banff and Jasper. Stops will be made at Crowfoot Glacier, Bow Lake, and the Weeping Wall before arriving at the Athabasca Glacier and Columbia Icefield to visit the chalet and allow time to enjoy the Ice Explorer ride on the Glacier and Glacier Skywalk. From the Chalet the parkway descends Tangle Ridge and follows the Athabasca River, which begins as melt water from the Athabasca Glacier. We then stop at the Athabasca Falls, where the boiling waters of the river plunge into a chasm gouged out of the valley floor. Your exciting day ends in the quaint townsite of Jasper. Your sightseeing adventure begins with pick up directly from your hotel in downtown Halifax before heading out toward the picturesque fishing village of Peggy's Cove, located about an hour from Halifax. Along the way, your guide will share fun facts and tips about the area. Once you arrive at Peggy's Cove, you'll have the opportunity to take a picture with the most photographed lighthouse in Canada. You'll also have free time to explore the area. The tiny fishing village offers some small shops you can check out or you can grab a seat on one of the benches and enjoy the stunning ocean views. After, your guide will bring you back to Halifax to visit historic Citadel Hill. While here you will learn about the military history of the hill and see the Highlander re-enactment interpreters dressed in traditional uniforms from the 1800s. Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site awaits today and words cannot do justice to this reconstruction depicting one fifth of the settlement of 1744 New France. Proceed along the shore of the Bras d’Or Lake to the mainland, and back to Halifax for one last night in the Maritimes.(Breakfast)

"Top Notch" Lobster Tour -  2.5 hrs tour including a lobster dinner.

The journey aboard Top Notch begins from Peakes Quay Marina, Charlottetown. Heading out into Charlottetown Harbour, Captain Mark and his brother Cody explain the importance of the lobster fishery to the Island economy, and the conservation measures being used to protect the stock. Passengers will see how GPS technology is used to guide fishers to their traps and they will also have the opportunity to check out the bottom of the harbour using sonar.

Once at the first lobster trap, passengers can help haul the catch from the water. After adding fresh bait, the trap will be put back in the water as the boat heads to the mouth of the harbour and into the Northumberland Strait.

 

Day 25: Charlottetown

Island Drive & Anne of Green Gable - 4 hrs

View rolling farmlands, stunning seascapes, tiny villages and bustling harbours along the Green Gables Shore (scenic drive) as we get ready to tour the North Shore area.  Brief photo stops at quaint little fishing villages, lighthouses and the world class - Cavendish Beach.  Tour Green Gables House: this old farm site inspired L.M. Montgomery's first novel, Anne of Green Gables, published in 1908.  A must stop will be at Prince Edward Island Preserve Company, located in one of Canada's prettiest villages.  The company uses locally grown fruit to make delicious jams and marmalades.
